🚀 Bridging the Digital Divide: A Call to Action for Communications Engineers The “Digital Divide” refers to the gap between those who benefit from the digital age and those who don’t. Lack of connectivity isn’t just a tech issue—it affects healthcare, education, social services, employment, and economic participation. Rural areas, in particular, suffer from insufficient infrastructure. As communications engineers, our expertise can be the key to solving this issue. The IEEE Communications Society and IEEE Tech4Good are inviting project proposals to bring connectivity to underserved areas. 🔹 Submission Timeline: • First-round submissions: 27 May - 30 June 2024 • Selected applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal for further evaluation within two weeks of the first round review. 🔹 Funding Term: Up to 6 months 🔹 Funding Amount: Up to US$12,000 per project Teams from around the world will identify localities in need of internet connectivity and work with local ComSoc chapters to plan and implement solutions.
