Last Thursday I attended and exhibited at the BTF®. It was an inspiring experience that showcased the incredible talent within our community. Thank you Seven Jacobs and the Colorintech team for the booth and for organising such a brilliant event. It was a pleasure to exhibit alongside other innovative founders, particularly the impressive women entrepreneurs who are building great products. The opportunity to share ideas and experiences was invaluable. One of the highlights was interacting with the many young black professionals in attendance. Their enthusiasm and potential were truly inspiring. It was heartening to see such a promising crop of talent entering the tech field, even if it meant being affectionately "auntied" a few times! 😊 Jamal Mustapha I had the pleasure of meeting two professionals relocating to Nigeria, including one who's bringing her expertise from a global travel organization to Wakanow. It's exciting to see this transfer of knowledge and experience. The event provided an excellent platform to discuss IMÒ INTERNS talents. The positive responses and engaging conversations reaffirmed the value of our mission in connecting businesses with vetted talent from Africa. BTF® delivered on all fronts: - Thought-provoking sessions and speakers - Networking opportunities that could lead to exciting collaborations -Great Music and Food - A closing keynote by Rapman that was truly inspiring Thank you, Rebecca 🦩 Leppard , the yin to my yang for events and everything else marketing. You are awesome as always. The thing about events is you never know whom you will see, like my BFF Sheryl Nwosu - fancy seeing you here my soon-to-be QC 😊 missed the after-party, though, since I was already auntied. I was true to my middle-aged bones and went home. It was great to meet Chigoziem M., Fidelia Okandze, Crystal Yal, Lawrence Banda, Pius Bozumbil, ROARing Voices, Stephanie Ozuo and many others Thank you Fatimah Ibrahim

Petra Gatto is one of the remarkable women I've had the privilege of meeting this year. As a cancer survivor herself, she is leading a crucial conversation on how to support loved ones, friends, or colleagues dealing with cancer. Cancer touches many of our lives, either directly or through someone we know. Let's join this important discussion by registering to attend the event. #breastcancerawareness
As we begin 🎗️Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I’m honouring a journey that’s left a deep and lasting impact on me both personally and professionally. As we all know, the journey through cancer affects not only the individuals diagnosed but also the incredible supporters who stand by their side. I certainly know this from my own experience. And now, as a survivor, I’m often asked by supportive colleagues, friends and family what to say and do to support their loved ones through an experience with cancer. Therefore I am organizing an event to have empowering conversations for those who support loved ones through cancer. Support the Supporters 📆 5.30 pm Tuesday, October 15th 📍Old Sessions House, London I will be joined on the panel by fellow cancer survivor Foram Brown, inspiring motivational speaker Judymay Murphy Super-Coach, and fantastic moderator Rachel Jagusch. Bryony Williams, a keen supporter of this charitable cause close to her heart, will sponsor a fabulous goody bag.🎁 Both women and men are welcome as this event is for everyone. Half of the ticket sales will be donated to the charity 🎗️Against Breast Cancer. If you feel called to join us on the 15th of October, I would love to see you there! Please share, like, and comment to help me reach more supporters! #Breastcancerawarenessmonth #femalefoundersrise #supportsupporters

I've just returned from an incredible two-day journey at the Black Women In HR - BWHR Moderating a Panel of HR Superheroes Amanda Rajkumar, Kameka McLean, LLB, BA (Hons), Terry Roberts , Jax U. and @Bukola Bayo-Yusuf MBA MSc CIPD One of the highlights was moderating a panel discussion on “The Path to Executive Leadership: Elevating Black Talent in HR” “ with senior industry leaders. Their insights were invaluable, and I left feeling motivated to push my own boundaries. A Powerful Reminder: Representation Matters A touching moment came when a BT staff member, unaware of the event's focus, expressed joy at seeing so many Black women in HR roles. It was a poignant reminder of why events like these are crucial. Representation isn't just important; it's transformative. 👏🏾 Tech + HR = Superpower for Good As someone straddling the worlds of HR and tech, I'm more convinced than ever that technology amplifies our ability to make a positive impact in HR. It's not just about efficiency; it's about creating meaningful change. Forever an HR Girl at Heart While I've embraced the tech world, this conference reaffirmed my passion for HR. It's events like these that remind me why I fell in love with this field. It was great to meet Bernadette T. in person Dayo Olomu, Chartered MCIPD, FIIM and,so many others at the event! 💡 What is a Leader on a Mission? A leader on a mission is someone who is empowering African Talent for the Global Stage In episode 116 of Meaningful Work, Meaningful Life, I sit down with Erefa Fynecontry Coker, the founder of IMÒ Interns, a platform that connects businesses worldwide with skilled, remote interns from Africa. With a background in HR and a passion for creating economic opportunities, Erefa shares her journey, the challenges she’s faced, and her mission to empower young African talent. We dive into how she built trust with international clients, the impact of remote work, and her vision for the future of global employment. What struck me is how she’s using technology to break down barriers and create meaningful opportunities for so many people. Erefa also challenges three common misconceptions that people often hold about Africa: ⛔When people think of virtual assistants, they rarely think of African talent ✅ Erefa challenges this preconception by sourcing skilled interns from Africa, a region often overlooked in the global talent market but where there is a young, educated population that is eager to work and capable of delivering high-quality results. ⛔ Cost-effective doesn’t mean low-quality ✅ Erefa debunks the myth that affordable talent comes at the expense of quality. She emphasizes that African interns provide cost-effective solutions for businesses while maintaining high work standards. This counters the common belief that inexpensive labour is of lower quality, showing that Africa offers skilled talent at a competitive rate ⛔ African talent is limited to technical execution and not strategic innovation ✅Erefa emphasised that young African professionals bring a unique, creative perspective to businesses. They are not just followers of global trends but innovators who can think outside the box, particularly in areas like social media strategy and digital marketing. ❓ Which of these 3 misconceptions have you heard of? Let me know If you’re curious about how to leverage global talent especially Africans for your business, you’re going to love this episode. 🎧Tune in every Tuesday for a new episode of the Meaningful Work, Meaningful Life podcast on Audible podcast, Apple podcast, Spotify or any of your favourite podcast platforms 🔗 The show notes of the episode and the YouTube video are at https://lnkd.in/e_QTpgy 🎁 Join me Wednesday 18th September 2024 at 12:30pm BST. Black Women in HR conference: 🌟 Exciting News! 🌟 Last year, I began following the Black Women In HR - BWHR LinkedIn page, and it wasn't long before I was introduced to the incredible founder, Adese O. , through a client. The rest they say is history 😃 and I'm thrilled to share that I'll be moderating a session at this year's Black Women in HR Conference. This event is more than just a gathering—it's a movement. It's about aligning with a purpose that resonates deeply with me: elevating Black talent in HR and creating pathways for all BAME professionals across the UK. The conference is designed to inspire, connect, and empower, offering two days of transformative learning and networking opportunities. To my LinkedIn network of CHROs and founders, now is the time to champion diversity and inclusion. Let's put our words into action by sponsoring a BAME colleague to attend this incredible event. If you are looking to up your goal-setting strategy, book to attend this event to finish the year on a roll.💪
Depending on how your Summer looks at the moment, it may or may not come as a surprise that September will be here in a few days… ☀️🏖️😉🍂☕ Does that make you feel a bit excited with nostalgic “back to school” energy? Or are you more focused on the pressures that the end of the year brings? Either way, it’s the perfect opportunity for a RESET. I strongly believe that breaking down yearly goals into quarterly plans is the key to maintaining focus and momentum. For me, it works so much better than feeling overwhelmed by planning for the entire year — and feeling like I can put off working towards my goals because the deadline is many months away! And let's face it, December is often a whirlwind of activity, so I like to consider September as part of the final push for Q4 rather than the winding down of Q3. Join me for "Finish Strong: How to Make Your Last Quarter Your Best Quarter " online workshop, on September 13th, 2024. Together, we will work on clarifying your vision and crafting a tailored 3-month plan to set you and your business/ career up for success. It’s the same process I love to use in my own business and I’m thrilled to be able to share it with you. If your wish is to be more visible as an expert in your field — now is the time to prepare a plan so that you have specific, practical steps to follow when things get busy in Q4. This 90-minute interactive online workshop will provide you with the tools and strategies needed to set powerful intentions and goals for the rest of the year. There’s an early bird price this week if you want to join now!
