Biogenic carbon encompasses carbon dioxide emitted or stored through natural processes within ecosystems, such as woodlands, biomass, and biogas. These emissions are part of the natural cycle of greenhouse gases. 🌿 As we try to mitigate climate change, the circular economy is increasingly essential. Bioenergy (energy made from biomass) plays an important role in the concept of circular economy providing circularity and low emissions compared to fossil energy. ♻️ However, as countries aim for net zero emissions and seek more renewable energy sources, there's a risk of increased deforestation and loss of biodiversity. It's crucial to accurately account for biogenic carbon emissions alongside other greenhouse gases to ensure a fair comparison with fossil fuels. 🌳 Follow for more insights into climate solutions! 🌍🌱 #saveenvironment #carbonemission #climatesolution

Today is World Earth Day 2024, an annual event to raise awareness about how important it is for us to take steps to protect our valuable earth. Earth Day aims to raise awareness about various environmental issues such as pollution, deforestation, climate change, and conservation of biodiversity. Today is a chance for us to reflect on how much of a difference we have already made and how we can continue to further this and make more improvements to help protect our planet. As a business, we must take crucial steps to help make changes for our planet to become sustainable. At RSE, we are committed to reducing our carbon footprint where possible and achieving Net Zero. RSE has switched to a variety of green energy solutions to achieve Net Zero, including solar panels, biomass boilers and Hydro-treated Vegetable Oil (HVO): A total of 370kW of solar panels have been installed across our locations, saving 70 tonnes of carbon emissions per year, reducing our Scope 2 emissions by 20%. Hydro-treated Vegetable Oil (HVO) is being used on site to replace diesel, which has saved 244 tonnes of CO2e and reduced site emissions by 50%. In 2016, RSE installed a biomass boiler in our Assembly Shop to reduce our reliance on oil heating. Using sustainably sourced wood pellets, this saved 17 tonnes of CO2e . RSE is continuously looking for ways to innovate the water treatment industry with sustainable ways of delivering our modular build products and technologies, with a real focus on minimising our carbon emissions across the business on our journey to achieve Net Zero. Happy World Earth Day to all! EARTHDAY.ORG #WorldEarthDay2024

The #bioeconomy brings opportunities for economic growth while tackling climate change. Fossil carbon resources can be replaced by bio-based carbon resources, especially biomass. To allow these solutions to be scaled up without threats to biodiversity and the environment, it is necessary to develop the bioeconomy as a circular economy. With this carbon management approach, other sources of carbon complement biomass: industrial waste, including gases such as CO and CO2, as well as physically and chemically recycled carbon.
