This article reminds of chapter 8 from "AI and Machine Learning for Coders: A Programmer's Guide to Artificial Intelligence" by the G.O.A.T Laurence Moroney. The development explainable #AI (#XAI) is crucial for deploying AI systems at scale in factory environments. Machine makers need deterministic systems (e.g., they need to understand – exactly – what a system will do with a given input) for equipment and personnel safety. Here, the authors introduce a concept they call the CIU method (Contextual Importance and Utility approach). I’m not sure it’s the best solution, but an important step along the way. https://lnkd.in/daJrmcVs

#GenerativeAI can “distort collective understanding of socio-political reality or scientific consensus,” and in many cases is already doing that, according to a new research paper from Google DeepMind. Instead of worrying about the “existential risk” that AI poses to humanity, we should focus on the real harm that generative AI is already causing and could get worse in the future. Namely, that generative AI makes it very easy for anyone to flood the internet with untrustworthy text, audio, images, and videos. Reading through this article reminded of great times working at Digital Equpiment Corporation aka DEC. Interesting to see how DEC were using a form of AI in 1982… called R1
