🛠️ The maintenance of converters, which are often difficult to access and costly to repair, is a major task for operators. Imagine if we could plan their maintenance better... we could then reduce the number of backup submodules, and ultimately the space and cost of converters. 👉 This is the subject of our latest research on IGBT (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor) modules: highly reliable components, critical to the smooth operation of converters. Being able to predict their lifespan is of real interest to industrialists, given the multitude of applications (rail 🚆, aviation ✈️, power grids ⚡...). 🔎 Thanks to an IGBT ageing bench with thermal cycling, designed and developed by our experts, we are able to determine the number of redundant and necessary sub-modules until the end of a converter's life, and to test different maintenance methods ✔️ 📙 Interested? Digital twins are a groundbreaking technology that creates a virtual model of a real-world system, such as railways across the globe. This railway 'twin' allows for more accurate monitoring, analysis, and prediction which helps prevent or minimise major incidents. So how exactly do digital twins work? In the context of railways, a digital twin creates a virtual representation of an entire rail network, including trains, tracks, and signalling systems. This model is continuously updated in real-time using data from sensors installed along the network. We think that this is a real breakthrough technology in preventing railway incidents. Great insights and timing of this discussion in the country. 1.Introducing regulations for every stakeholder in the EV eco-system should be the first step, especially in the early-adoption stage we are currently in. 2. The Auto OEMs validate EMI/EMC protection even for the smallest electronic component in their vehicles against global standards, no excuse why other stakeholders cannot implement it. 3. When it comes to safety, avoiding EMI/EMC is cutting corners, not cutting costs ! Blatant short-sightedness in their P&Ls, higher upfront costs are comfortably manageable once the market picks pace, and volumes increase ! Market priority currently should be focused on Safety, User Experience & Availabilty. #EV #India #Charging

Power Out? Your Electric Vehicle Could Be the Solution 🚘 As our northern front escalates, Israel is preparing for a war with Hezbollah. Armed with more than 200,000 missiles, Hezbollah can inflict serious damage to our power grid, Putting cities at risk of temporary power shutdowns. This threat raises concerns about the resilience of the Israeli home front, in case of such an attack. One of the technologies being discussed as a potential solution comes from the Automotive Industry - Vehicle To Home (V2H) ⚡ V2H is a technology that enables EVs to transfer energy to homes. It requires a bi-directional charging capability and it turns your EV into a giant battery that can be used as a power backup source. Here are a few known pros and cons of the V2H technology: 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘀: Built-in Battery Packs: EVs are equipped with large batteries, capable of providing power to average households for days. Eco-Friendly: Utilizing an EV as a power source is greener than traditional generators, cutting down on fossil fuel reliance. Cost-Effective: In regular times, using your EV for power can be more economical compared to other backup options 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙨: Limited Availability of V2H: The technology is not yet available in all EV models and regions. Battery Degradation: Frequent use of EVs for home power could accelerate the degradation of the vehicle's battery. Complex Setup: Requires specific equipment and a compatible EV In normal times the deployment of such technology is a long process. It requires proper regulation and safety standards, approved by the government. What COVID-19 taught us is that when urgency comes, Such approvals can be expedited. It's a matter of decision...
