The5 with Eric Moraczewski welcomes Kyle Ogden, President & CEO of The Thanks-Giving Foundation. Kyle joins The5 to talk about Building a Profoundly #Caring Community. Something most, if not all, nonprofits are focused on but maybe aren't always aware of. Kyle talks about being intentional with gratitude and caring, as well as the Foundation's five key functions of Building a Profoundly Caring Community. Kyle became the President and CEO of The Thanks-Giving Foundation because he wanted to do something important in the bigger civic context, and build something sustainable for the citizens of Dallas. The Thanks-Giving Foundation is a platform that can influence the future of the community, and he believes his contribution of time, effort and resources can make a real difference as an accelerant of positive change. The physical and programmatic enhancements made are being noticed, and he is proud that the vision will deliver a place of importance within the nonprofit landscape. Before joining The Thanks-Giving Foundation, Kyle was the Chairman, President and CEO of Carroll Company. Kyle received a Bachelor of Business Administrations degree in honors business and a Master of Business Administration degree in accounting and finance from the University of Texas at Austin, and went on to earn his CPA license. In his spare time, he enjoy golf, baseball and travel. He and his wife have four adult children. The5 is a celebration of the work being done by nonprofit professionals, highlighting valuable tips and methods that nonprofits should be utilizing. The5 is aptly named as NMBL Strategies celebrates our 5 year anniversary. Host Eric Moraczewski leads guests on a journey of topics that are of deep importance to the guest and discusses how nonprofits and nonprofit leaders can benefit from the experience and expertise. #nonprofit #nonprofits #nonprofitorganization #nonprofitfoundation #nonprofitlife #nonprofitorganizations #nonprofitmanagement #nonprofitsuccess #nonprofitleaders #nonprofitgrowth #gratitude #intentionality

This is...everything. GENIUS Amber Hamilton and Memphis Music Initiative Um, Crappy Funding Practices folks, so many choices for a theme song... If you are a funder...take a listen and see if there are some references that make you squirm. If you do squirm, it's ok to sit in that discomfort a little, ask what it's telling you and then talk with your colleagues about steps you can take to improve the experiences of your potential and current grantees. Did you know that 30.4 million students in America can't afford their school meals? The average annual cost per child is $180.60, and 68.8% of surveyed schools have unpaid meal debt. Even more concerning, 96% of school districts report an increase in the number of students who can't afford their meals year after year. In Texas alone, there are 1,658,680 food-insecure children. This isn’t just a statistic; it’s a reality that many families face. It’s time we step up and make a difference. https://lnkd.in/gRGzG3wd At The Robb Kelly Foundation, we are dedicated to helping children and families in need, but we can’t do it alone. Every dollar counts. Your donation today can help feed a child, provide support, and give them a chance at a better future. If you're looking to make an impact, please consider donating to The Robb Kelly Foundation. Together, we can fight hunger and bring hope to families across the nation. #MakeADifference #EndChildHunger #RobbKellyFoundation Ray Trevino CEO

Looking for a little humor? Check out this video. Having submitted 3 grant applications 2 weeks ago, 3 more next week and another 2 by March 1st, I can relate but I have to admit, I think that I have figured out the recipe for submitting strong applications. This is definitely not for the faint of heart but I wouldn't have it any other way! #grantwriting #nonprofit #funding

Defensiveness is a natural reaction when we feel uncomfortable or criticized, but it can be a barrier to disrupting and dismantling white supremacy culture in nonprofit organizations. Instead of shutting down or pushing back, it’s essential to recognize these moments as opportunities for learning and development. Mira, Cat, and I invite you to an upcoming discussion on the white supremacy culture characteristic of defensiveness in nonprofit organizations. We'll explore practical strategies for staying open and responsive, even when faced with challenging feedback. https://bit.ly/4g7TliB

Have you checked out Dr. Laura Otten's blog post on the Think Good blog, "Beyond Resolutions: Shifting Perspectives and Creating Possibilities in 2024"? "We have the power to get that boulder to the very top of the hill—and have it stay there. To do so, though, we must change how we think and focus on solutions rather than the problem...." If you are a nonprofit leader looking to create new possibilities for your organization this year, check out the full blog on our website at: https://lnkd.in/eyg_j78g
