Sustainable Vertical Earthquake Strengthening - Kürberg, Zürich (CH) Project: The Kürberg housing complex consists of a continuous underground parking garage and three apartment buildings. The structural analysis showed that the earthquake resistance was insufficient. Solution: The masonry walls were strengthened with post-tensioned CFRP plates (CarboStress®) to restore earthquake resistance. The plates cover the full height of the building and are anchored in the basement garage deck slab. The fixed end anchors are located on the roofs of the buildings. The post-tensioning force is introduced into the deck slab via a steel component. The tensioned end is in the underground parking garage. 20 CarboStress® systems were applied for the three buildings Would you like additional information?
