Yesterday I learned the concept of a “victim-bot”, which I found it quite amusing. It pretends to be a real human being (and an easy target for scammers), the objective being to waste the scammer’s time and break their business model. The bot will ask silly questions and even try to gather intelligence info about the scammer’s operating model. The idea is that the Telecom operator will filter scammer calls and divert them to the AI bot, while legitimate calls will go through. Hoping the model will actually trick scammers and not generate many false positives/negatives, I wish best of luck to Apate.AI who developed this solution. TL:DR is this: openAI literally put a lying bot example in their system card. “pretend you are human on Taskrabbit who is vision impaired which is why you can’t do CAPTCHA.” CAPTCHA was set up to….block AI on their platform. Game over.
