I've been an Orioles fan for as long as I can remember.
The last time they won a World Series was the year I was born... 😬
My kids are default O's fans - that's usually how it works, right?
Not trying to indoctrinate them in the world of sports, but we can all agree the Yankees have won enough times, right?
In any event, for a couple years running now, the birds have had a shot at the big one.
Will this be the year?
Who knows.
But it's a lot of fun to see the underdog become competitive again - and grow. And a lot of fun to do so with kids now as they grow up.
And 1 of my very favorite things about baseball is also the most frustrating thing about baseball - any team can beat any team any day of the week.
You don't always see the same in the business world - at least day to day. The big companies often are like the Yankees - for decades - and it's a challenge for smaller companies and brands and teams to compete.
But maybe it's just the time horizon that's different. Because if you watch long enough, even the big companies go the way of the world and the new big companies were just humble startups a few blinks ago.
Takeaway? Keep rooting for the home team, the underdog - YOUR team.
It may not look like it or feel like it today - but as the team grows and matures and finds its niche - it too can win big.
World Series this year?
Who knows.
But definitely one day soon.
Until then, and each day, let's
PLAY BALL!
