The motivation for most printing business owners when they look to buy another company is to try to get more of the same work they already do. They may also look at entering adjacent areas that they are not currently in. The third area may be for talent. As good team members are hard to find, sometimes they join your business acquisition. There was a good article in the December 2023 issue of the Printing United Journal, titled, "Are you ready to sell?" There were many good points made in the article by a few of the industry M&A specialist. One of the common themes was that this becomes an emotional decision process. A question that I often ask is, do you want to buy, or do you feel you have to buy? Following that up with are you trying to fix something or are you seeking to make a good thing even better.
