You’re looking at the beginnings of a serious plant upgrade 🦾 Double trouble springs to mind, and although we typically keep things solutions orientated around here, the SRP agitator only spells bad news for any entrapped "fluff" that could lower the purity of ferrous scrap. Final tests are now complete for this giant scrap separator before it heads to its new home, just in time for the new year. The custom separation system is configured with each drum in a bottom-fed orientation, to maximise grade of ferrous recovery, and the double pass ensures that nothing of value is missed. Whilst both heavy-duty feeders provide an even and constant flow of material to the drums, the drums also benefit from a consistent magnetic field across their full working width unlike electromagnetic equivalents that have all their strength concentrated in the central section, which would compromise overall ferrous recovery for this particular application. This #brass brush turns the #ammonia solution blue as the #copper component of the #alloy oxidizes and dissolves in it. The blue solution is the distinct color of Cu2+. Copper can easily dissolve in ammonia and #amine derivatives that are meant to adjust pH. Imagine this scenario: Due to some overlooked #oxidizers in your system, you suddenly got high #iron readings in your #routinetest. You decided to increase the dosing rate of the pH adjuster. Then after several hours, you find your copper over the acceptable #parameter. Now you have two problems. What gives? Do you have brass parts in your #feedwater or #condensate service #pipeline that is in contact with your carbon steel pipe? Perhaps, instrument sensors, connectors, etc? There are various methods to purify graphite. On the WFI US side of things, we’ve only had experience with high-temperature methods. Aside from our own experience, there are different methods like flotation, alkaline acid, chlorination roasting, etc… This goes back to our posts, over the last few weeks. There are so many material-specific techniques to fabricate high-purity graphite parts, that we’ve found there is no shame in leaning on experts.
