Great to see the FCA launch an AI Lab. They have chosen a great name (in case that was too subtle, at NextWealth we also have an AI Lab helping financial advice firms and wealth managers to adopt AI solutions). When we set up our AI Lab, one of the challenges we came up against was that firms were reluctant to speak publicly about efficiencies gained through AI. A few told me about experiences with the regulator asking how much they'd cut fees because of efficiency gains. It all seemed so backward. If we're going to grow as an industry, we need to adopt tech and experiment with new ways of working. Tech and process change takes a huge amount of investment. On top of that, everyone wants to stay on the right side of risk and compliance. Great to have a safe space to experiment.
