How do you look at making changes in your business? Do you research thoroughly and then make a decision if it is best for your business? (This is me) Do you jump into the next big thing or bright shiny object because "everyone else is" or "so and so told me I should" Or do you not like change so you hold onto old systems and processes even if they may not be working the way they should? I talk to a lot of fractionals in other areas and they see the ways we can work together but are concerned about how clients could "afford" both of us at one time. (Talking small to mid size businesses, not huge corporations) One of the ideas I had when it comes to the gaps these other fractionals see would be to offer a systems audit (for a charge) where I would come in, review what the goals are, what systems are currently in place (or not), and what would be needed to get the business running efficiently and smoothly. Then I would create a plan that the company could integrate in house if they have the team to do so, or we could phase it out and support them over a 3-6 month period with a project area per month(ish) and help them find/hire team they need. I'm curious if this is something that may be of interest or if you have any other ideas that could work better to help these companies get the support they need without it taking years to get everything in place. #businessgrowth #curious #businessgoals

Sunday night, when I was getting ready for my week, I turned on my laptop and no internet. No, this wasn't a problem with the overall internet, it was with my laptop. I knew to check certain things and found a driver that was throwing an error. First, I reached out to a good friend in IT and asked his opinion. Usually I can fix issues just from the instructions he gives me. Not this time! I realized quickly that I was not going to be able to fix this on my own and needed help, so I looked up a computer repair shop locally and gave them a call. Monday, they thought it was fixed, sent it home and still no internet. Brought it back Tuesday and by the afternoon they had done a different fix and I was finally back in business! (Don't worry, I have been doing this long enough that it wasn't something that affected my work or clients. I always figure things out and just hopped on a different computer for a couple of days!) Thankfully, I knew when it was time to get professional help and did that quickly. I never would have been able to do this fix on my own as it isn't my area of expertise. But it was for the computer repair guy! I didn't waste my time trying to figure out something just to save a few dollars. I knew it was worth the investment in a professional. When was the last time you knew quickly when to go to a professional? Are you using your systems effectively? I have had a number of conversations recently where I find that companies are using a number of systems, that mainly do the same things, but they are all used for different areas. Instead of using a CRM that does marketing, sales, contact management, email, calendar, etc. they are using a system for marketing, one for contact management and emails, another for project management, another for calendar, etc. and then they are connecting them all with 3rd party systems. This is not only inefficient, but can be costly as well. One of the companies I worked with that was originally doing this I was able to help in both cost and productivity. By talking to their team, figuring out the best system that everyone would be most comfortable with, merging everything into that one system and training the team, I was able to save them $27,000 a year! Their team had one spot to remember to login to and they had all their applications connected so things were quick and easy for them to update and take care of which boosted productivity for the company. Has it crossed your mind to sell your company down the line? If that is what you plan to do, or think you may consider it in the future, is your company set up to be enticing to a buyer? Do you have a strong foundation? Systems in place? Is it a machine that can run on it's own or do you have to be fully present and available all the time? If it isn't something that can be easily run, or requires the CEO to be available at all hours, it is not going to be enticing to someone down the line. If we are being honest, it probably isn't enticing to you now! If you don't have systems in place that run smoothly, that future buyer will need to put those things in place, lowering how much they are willing to invest to purchase your business in the first place. If you make it a priority to put those pieces in place now, it increases your revenue and brings down your expenses, which is a win-win for you now and for your future buyer. Creating strategy with intention, putting systems in place, simplifying how you do things so it is easy to understand, having SOP's in place to make handing over the reins to anyone in the future easy...those are all things that will help you now. They are all pieces that will help you build, grow, and have a life while you're at it. If you don't have those things in place, reach out. Expansion is a word that is both exciting and scary. We have a feeling of excitement when we are changing and growing in our life and work. We also have that part of us that is scared. What if it doesn't go how we want it to? What if something happens we don't expect and aren't prepared for? What if, What if, What if. But what if it DOES go the way you were hoping...or even better? What if the unexpected happens that you weren't prepared for, but it is AMAZING? We recently expanded our business and yes, I am both excited and had those moments of heart thudding "what if" thoughts too. Why didn't those thoughts stop me? Because I work on my mindset daily. I choose how I want to intentionally show up in the world each day. I don't let the scary parts outweigh the excitement. I learned a long time ago how to change those what if negative thoughts to what if positive ones. How do you choose to look at expansion? Is it exciting for you?
