Don't put all your eggs in one basket. 👇 I, like so many others this morning, tried to log into the Twitter only to get the error message "Your current API plan does not include access to this endpoint." After Musk took over Twitter in October 2022 and swiftly fired thousands of employees and contractors, many feared that the platform would fall apart. Between Musk assuming control of Twitter and late January, it's believed that some 80 percent of full-time workers left the company. Shortly after the mass departures started, one former employee told The Washington Post that they knew of six critical systems that "no longer have any engineers." They added that Twitter would "continue to coast until it runs into something, and then it will stop." While Musk's "leadership" is bad for business, the key lesson I'm taking away from this is... 🍳 Don't put all your eggs in one basket. If you're a freelancer relying on social media platforms to advertise, drive traffic, find clients, or even monetize off of, this is a reminder that platforms change on a whim. Algorithms change.
