Selecting stakeholders is part 3 of an introductory guide to #StakeholderEngagement, revisited at https://lnkd.in/eFyWv8zt. Four considerations are legitimacy, power, urgency & practicalities. Legitimacy includes 1) potential value of contributions, 2) whose interests they serve, 3) who they represent. Power includes ability to contribute resources, support, prestige & acceptance or if they can exert force on research. Urgency includes importance, irreversible consequences or window for action. Practicalities include accessibility, willingness to participate, existing relationships, risk. For those of us that care about shaping a better future for the world, where we are right now feels challenging, uncertain and complex. When you're faced with complex challenges getting different perspectives is really helpful for making sense of things and working out a way forward. Consequently, it was a great pleasure to be part of Business Fights Poverty's online written discussion last month that tapped into the collective wisdom of a diverse community of social impact professionals concerning the state of world. The format was innovative and proved to be an efficient way to ensure that a large number of views could be expressed and received. There's no doubt that there are many challenges but there are also opportunities and an increasing number of approaches that are being used to tackle complex social challenges effectively. It's also reassuring to know that there are people out there that care and are prepared to do something about it. The overarching theme is the need to collaborate. More detailed findings are in the post and available through the link. Zahid Torres-Rahman & Yvette Torres-Rahman. Thank you for convening us. #socialimpact

Why communities of practice are key to an organization’s knowledge management Knowledge powers much of today’s economy, and organizations need to be able to effectively spread ideas and expertise amongst their teams. That said, many organizations are structured in a way that can inadvertently keep like-minded professionals from fully connecting. It’s necessary to bridge these silos so that people with a shared passion or concern can start talking — AND making a difference. What’s particularly special about a community of practice is that participation is voluntary; people take part simply because they find it worthwhile. Whether the community is formal or informal, the glue is each participant’s ability to learn from others and advance a shared set of goals. It’s this voluntary, organic nature that makes a CoP so valuable for spreading ideas and know-how throughout an organization. 😋 Yesterday, We held our monthly 'Dining with CXO' activity, in order to create an opportunity to gather fun and healthy conversation between Greenmoonians and executives. “Fantastic! It’s great to be able to share topics, and the executives are willing to listening.” - Worranat Gadwirad “The executives are very friendly, and I got a lot of insightful advice from them.” - Nattawat Leelakusolvong “More and more of this is what our community needs—the more diversity, the more understanding there is!” - Natthaya Kurkowski 🎉 This allows everyone to connect with one another, even if it is about non-work-related issues like personal interests or lifestyles. It helps to break the ice and build partnerships. This can improve team collaboration and make people feel more at ease when working cross-functionally. #LifeatGreenmoons #DiningwithCXO #connectingpeople
