Having a supportive community to be yourself and to help educate others can be a key factor when choosing a company to work for. This was certainly the case for Charles Macmichael, ERM’s Managing Partner in Canada. Through his role at ERM, Charles was given the opportunity to become the executive sponsor of our Pride ERG in North America, the existence of which was an important part of his decision to join ERM. “I am proud to support an inclusive workplace for the LGBTQ+ community, including myself as a member of that amazing community.” #Pride #Pride2024 #LifeAtERM

Happy Pride Month, everyone. 🏳️🌈 In the last decade, we've seen amazing strides for the LGBTQ+ community. However, we've also seen a lot more divisiveness, contention, and even hate directed toward them, too. With more visibility often comes more vulnerability, which is why it's so important that businesses have practices in place to not only support members of the LGBTQ+ community but also protect them. You can definitely consider me in the 59% of Americans who believe we should devote resources to protecting LGBTQ+ rights. Not only can it make a positive difference in the lives of so many, but it can also show your LGBTQ+ employees that you truly care about their safety and well-being. #PrideMonth #LGBTQCommunity #InclusiveWorkplace

To torund out Pride Month and keep the conversation going, ODEIB's Mary Ellen LaRosa sat down with LGBTQ+ Rights Committee Co-Chair Hayley Gorenberg to discuss the vital topic of creating inclusive environments. During the conversation, they delve into the underlying social forces – e.g. professionalism, heteronormativity, cis sexism, ableism – and their roots in white supremacy. We can all train ourselves to recognize and interrupt dynamics of exclusion in order to produce more inclusive environments. And we can all learn to spot the gaps in understanding the are a byproduct of our privileges, as well as learn to own and correct our mistakes without defensiveness. Doing this work can be a process of growth and creativity! It’s not all blame and shame. We encourage you all to listen, reflect, and share your thoughts. https://lnkd.in/eSc-4RjR #InclusiveWorkplaces #DEIB #Allyship #NewYorkCityBarAssociation

Does #PrideMonth help raise enough awareness about LBGTQ+ issues? 69% of the readers of our publisher Yahoo said ‘No’ and we also agree that waving the rainbow flag just for one month a year is definitely not enough. Is it important to dedicate an entire month to the achievements and challenges of the LGBTQ+ community? Yes. Is it equally important to address these things the rest of the year? Also yes. LGBTQ+ issues go beyond Pride Month. Because as we see in the results of the surveys, the rights and freedoms of LGBTQ+ people are still not a given and in many people’s opinion are once again under threat. It is therefore important to show awareness and support beyond Pride Month. Because in reality, every month is Pride Month.

Everyone is welcome 🌈💙. Our #Diversity, #Equity & #Inclusion (DEI) Policy underlines that sexual orientation shall not impact anyone's role at Greiner and commits us to address inequalities faced by the LGBTQ+ community. We are aware that there is a lot do to and the LGBTQ+ community still faces numerous challenges around the world. Many countries do not have comprehensive#antidiscrimination laws that protect the community. Global companies can play a role in combating this discrimination. 👉 Discover why Pride Month matters to us at Greiner: https://lnkd.in/eUaBUnpp

#HaysPrideMonth 🤔 Have you ever wondered why so many people are adding their pronouns to their email signatures at work? 🏳️🌈 June is Pride month, so we're raising awareness of some of the issues the LGBTQ+ community face, celebrating their wins, and shining a spotlight on topics that aren't always discussed. 💡 Hays' Francesca Cary delves into the topic of pronouns in her latest article, explaining what they are, why people use them, how they can help organisations be more diverse and inclusive, and much more. "People avoid having these difficult conversations. They're worried they'll get it wrong so they just stay away." Here’s a short clip from a Squash workshop on being an ally to the LGBTQ+ community. Having conversations that are considered uncomfortable are such an important part of this work. We use drama to normalise this discomfort and equip participants with the skills they need to have meaningful conversations. We speak with characters one-on-one (Hot-Seating) to understand their experience of bias and inequality, which has proven to be a powerful way of fostering empathy and awareness in the workplace. To find out more about our approach to challenging bias and humanising DEI, book in a free 30 minute consultation here: https://lnkd.in/euJnkmNS #unconsciousbias #allyship #SquashBias

✨ LGBTQ+ History Month ✨ In case you didn't know, February is LGBTQ+ History month. Last week, to kick things off, Lucy Morgan and Seba Dyer joined a panel discussion for Campaign LGBTQ+ on allyship in the work place - there was some really interesting takeaways, so we thought we would share some of them throughout the month. 👉 Allyship Tip 1: Check your privilege 👈 Recognising your own privilege helps you to be more supportive to all marginalised groups, not just LGBTQ+ people. It forces you to view things through a different lens, and opens your eyes to inclusion. Reflecting and recognising your own unearned privileges in different aspects of your life allows you to support others who do not benefit in the same way and be a better ally to those who need it! #lgbtqhistorymonth #inclusion #allyship #podtalent

Pride Without Prejudice: Pride PEI Pride PEI's claim of fostering an inclusive community through their events starkly contrasts with their support for antisemitic policies, alienating Jewish LGBTQ+ members and their allies. What They Say: Pride PEI aims to create an inclusive community through their annual festival, parade, and ongoing social events, education, and advocacy. What They Do: Exclusionary Practices: By endorsing a BDS policy, Pride PEI actively promotes antisemitism. Creating a hostile environment for Jewish LGBTQ+ community members and their allies, Pride PEI has encouraged participants to display divisive pro-Palestinian symbols whose use recently has been to intimidate and incite. Selective Solidarity: Their support for a movement that marginalizes Jewish individuals starkly contradicts their professed commitment to inclusivity and respect. We call on Pride PEI to practice what they preach and ensure a truly inclusive and safe space for all. #PrideWithoutPrejudice #Inclusivity #PracticeWhatYouPreach #PridePEI #JewishPride
