“It takes each of us to make a difference for all of us.” Me and my teammates recently volunteered to help our local United Way, volunteering at the local Salvation Army. The Salvation Army works year round to help those in need. There was a great response across our city. In total, there were 110 Volunteers; 18 corporate partners; 13 volunteer sites; and 326 volunteer hours. My company, Field Fastener, encourages all team members to get out and volunteer for the Non-Profit of our choice, and they allow us paid time to do so. Field gives back to the community, in keeping with their mission to improve lives. #UWRRVDayofCaring #fieldfastener

In Rockford, IL, we are moving our community forward, by investing in our young people. We have an innovative program, “Rockford Promise”, which funds college tuition and fees to eligible Rockford public school graduates. The civic group that I lead, Next Rockford, is proud to financially support this program. We are one of many, and we are proud to be a part of the solution! Together, we are making college education a reality and investing in the future of our community.  In total, at this one event, over $25,000 was raised—an incredible achievement that will have a lasting impact on the lives of our Scholars. It’s cool to watch this program grow over the years. The future is bright for the economic development of Rockford. Every dollar raised helps students pursue their education and it also builds a stronger, more vibrant workforce. Local businesses and partners have already commented about the positive impact this program is having, and we have great momentum! But to grow this organization, we must build the endowment. A lot of local organizations and benefactors are pitching in to help. Will you? And if you are in another city and state, you should look into starting a program for yourselves. “It takes each of us to make a difference for all of us” Well, I had a very good week, and I want to thank the Greater Rockford Chamber of Commerce for this very nice event and for the recognition, “20 People You Should Know”. I’m proud to stand with my fellow honorees. I’m thankful to all those who came before me and the community members I’ve met over the years. There are so many good people in our region who should also be recognized, and likely will be in the future. We have to build the next generation and keep striving for progress. Thankful for my organization Next Rockford, as it’s a great way to get involved. I’m also thankful for my employer, Field Fastener who encourages volunteerism and who gives back to our community in so many ways.
