EY’s this week’s 5 must-reads for the weekend were both engaging and informative. The EU AI rulebook piqued my interest. However, Daco’s “Global economic outlook: strategies to thrive in a new normal” allowed me to understand multi-faceted strategies leaders can use to thrive in today’s dynamic environment including flexibility, resilience, innovation, and portfolio optimization. I find deploying hybrid or multi-faceted strategies to be beneficial. Leaders can deploy flexibility to pivot quickly in response to market changes and adapt strategies and operations to new conditions. Resilient leaders establish a strong foundation to withstand challenges, fostering a change culture, and deploying risk management practices to optimize workflow operations. Innovation drives continuous learning, improvement, and differentiation, encouraging creativity and the adoption of new technologies and processes. Finally, portfolio optimization ensures resources are allocated efficiently by regularly reviewing and adjusting the organization’s assets and investments, focusing on high-growth opportunities, and divesting underperforming areas. Together, these strategies position leaders to navigate uncertainty and capitalize on emerging opportunities.

Work should be purpose driven, it becomes more fulfilling, enjoyable and meaningful. The paycheck then serves as a reward and motivation to continue growing and improving in that purposeful journey. It’s about finding balance between passion and practical needs.
