Great article by McKinsey & Company that I can't recommend enough! I think it is crucial that we confront the realities of our industry’s impact on #globalemissions and recognize and tackle the resulting challenges as opportunity. I also believe that the demons of the industry - costs and regulatory approvals - are often overstated. In this respect, I appreciate that McKinsey clearly emphasizes the potential for positive net present value (NPV) levers and minimal regulatory hurdles. For our 𝐏𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 business line at Heraeus Precious Metals, #sustainability has been in focus for some time now. Here are our most recent projects to lower our #carbonfootprint: 🌳 We’ve reduced the temperature of our thermal post-combustion plant, saving 30 tons of CO2e annually. 🌳 A new steam generator has been implemented, cutting energy costs by 50% and saving 10 tons of CO2e per year. 🌳 We’re committed to using 100% #greenelectricity by 2025, with almost 15% of our local needs already met by PV systems. This goes hand in hand with Heraeus Precious Metals` overall aim: By 2025, Heraeus Precious Metals will be carbon-neutral for its own operations and reach net zero in 2033 – as the first company in its industry. #HPAPI
