Let’s say you allocate 20% of your budget into testing; you can calculate how much spend you need per ad in order to effectively manage this. For example, If you need to spend $250 per ad before calling it a loser/winner and have a $50k/month budget, you have $10k allocated to testing, which allows for testing 40 ads. How do you know how much to spend on an ad? This would vary based on your acquisition cost. I’ll usually do anywhere between 3x acquisition cost or 2x Average order value. By what metrics should advertising campaigns be evaluated? CPM: cost per mile - cost per 1000 impressions Having a low CPM is too low and requires attention To reduce CPM, you need to understand FB distribution and auctions To win impressions, you need to meet: Budget + Estimated Action Rate + Ad Quality Budget: The amount the house is willing to pay Estimated action rate: User interactions of the ad like, share, comment Ad quality: Relates to whether the ad violates the platform's policies. You will see that it is not always good to have a high budget or to have attractive ads. If you violate the policy, the CPM will be high. It is a combination of all three elements. In addition, I often evaluate by campaign percentage, advertising percentage, and frequency and conversions. If the campaign has a high CPM, optimize or review the content before launching the campaign.

Most companies do advertising wrong. There's a lot to know, but here are the most common pitfalls I see daily: 1. Lack of ROAS tracking (return on adspend). You need to actually track ROAS to see how you are performing, stop guessing even if you think you know... you don't. 2. Poor/No notes on bad leads. If a lead was bad, why? Was it because the ad is poorly targeted or something else? What optimization can you make to the ad so it doesn't happen again? 3. Not understanding optimization time and cost per acquisition/lifetime value. It takes time for your campaigns to optimize. Additionally, it costs A LOT to acquire a customer and it may seem like you are losing money to start. But, the real ROAS is in the customer lifetime value. 4. Giving up. Give your campaigns time. If it doesn't work, try coming from another angle or even another platform. At the end of the day, your advertising strategy is a pivotal leg your business needs to diversify it's leads.
