A manufacturing company was trying to hire a Salesforce Developer. We found them a few that they really liked, and they made an offer to one of them. But that developer had already accepted a job with another company. A lot of times this would mean starting the search from scratch. Wasting a lot more of management’s time and waiting to start critical projects until they got the right person on board. But we’ve seen this situation before. So we had B & C candidates - who were just as qualified - ready to go. We keep talking to everyone on the short list, even when it looks like the job might go to someone else. Because so often, it doesn’t. And we want the companies we work with to get a great Salesforce professional on their team even if their first choice takes an offer elsewhere. But if you don’t stay in touch with those 2nd & 3rd place candidates. If you don’t keep communication open… Then if you do need to reach out to them. They’ve probably taken another job, too.

Important insight in the reality of job search and the importance of networking.
A company advertised a Salesforce Admin/Developer role for 4+ months, with no success. We found the right person in 4 days. Months of job ads just brought in a flood of unqualified candidates. People who were working on their first Admin certification but who had no on-the-job experience. Other staffing firms brought in people who were either way too experienced, not experienced enough, or weren’t a culture fit at all. We got involved, tapped our network of admins & developers & found a short list of passive candidates who didn’t ever see the job ads and who were sick of taking calls from other recruiters who didn’t really know the difference between an Architect and an Admin. 4 days later, the company was interviewing our candidates. Within a week they’d hired the right person.

How to structure a Salesforce App and Support team has changed... Instead of hiring a Salesforce Admin as a core FTE, I would hire a Salesforce Developer instead... Leave the Admin work to a Salesforce MSP or Agency that can do tasks/requests 24x7 and leverage a Developer to implement customizations... and if need be, act as the liason with the MSP and get more complex work done internally... ✌️ #Salesforce #team #build #manage
