The EPA is asking for input on whether they should create training and certification rules for technicians who work with specific refrigerants (ASHRAE 2, 2L, and 3) used in heating and cooling systems. They are interested in ideas on how to implement such a program and who it should apply to, as well as whether technicians already certified under other regulations should also be certified under these new rules. Additionally, they are considering whether these training requirements should be part of existing regulations for recycling refrigerants or if there should be exceptions for technicians already certified by other approved certifiers. The EPA will take these comments into account for potential future rulemaking on technician training and certification. EPA COMMENT LINK: https://lnkd.in/giRtrXrv

For those of us who tested to get their 608 years ago, and have continued to receive education regarding newer refrigerants, we didn't do it because the EPA or CARB told us to, we did it because we consider it our job to know. And hopefully pass the knowledge on to others!

With all changes it definitely needs to be a certification. No Grandfather.
