Hi Network, November 2023 seems like a distant memory, but some achievements are timeless. Completing the investment banking simulation for JPMorgan on Forage may have been a bit delayed, but the satisfaction of its completion remains as fresh as ever. It's a reminder that success knows no expiration date.  In the simulation I:  * Identified an ideal M&A target for a client based on an assessment of their   strategic and financial criteria.  * Constructed a DCF model to calculate the valuation of the M&A target and   adjusted the model to account for a competitor bid and supply chain   interruption.  * Created a 2-pager for the client containing a company profile and summary of   the auction process. Whether a goal is completed today, tomorrow, or yesterday, what matters is the journey and the lessons learned along the way. Here's to embracing the journey and celebrating every milestone, no matter when it's reached ! 😁

Today, I had the privilege of participating in a market insight event organized by J.P. Morgan, where Stuart Humphrey, a vice-president in Equities Trading based in New York, provided valuable insights into the bank's market structure. The session highlighted the crucial roles of sales, trading, and research in delivering diverse asset classes that align with clients' objectives and benchmarks. She emphasized that asset managers tailor offerings based on clients' risk aversion, time horizon, and liquidity preferences. For institutional clients, specific considerations come into play. ✔️ Mutual funds, managing pensions with a long horizon and high risk aversion, often lean towards conservative investments such as treasuries. However, they may strategically incorporate more aggressive options. ✔️ Hedge funds, catering to wealth individuals, adopt a more aggressive stance with a shorter time horizon. ✔️ The conversation also covered the unique approach of insurance companies, focusing on their premium calculation tied to the probability of adverse events and specific timeframes. Additionally, insights were shared regarding J.P. Morgan's pivotal role in trade execution and the collaborative efforts between the sales and trade departments. The session highlighted the key benefits of trading with a bank, emphasizing enhanced liquidity availability as a critical factor. Furthermore, bid and ask dynamics were discussed as significant elements in the trading process. Overall, the session provided a comprehensive understanding of J.P. Morgan's market-side operations and the intricate relationships contributing to successful client outcomes.
