I chaired a really interesting panel discussion this morning at Reuters Responsible Business Europe on how to drive performance with ESG data. Big thanks to the panellists... Sherry Madera - CEO, CDP Jenn-Hui Tan - CSO Fidelity International Fantastic insights on evolving standards and 'write once, read many' approaches to gathering and disclosing ESG data. The biggest takeaway was how important it is for us to not be measuring for measuring's sake. The data must be woven into decision-making that will help drive performance. A baseline is important, but the trend and direction of travel for an organisation is often far more interesting to financiers in particular, who want a sense that an organisation is progressing and has the right systems and governance in place to actually achieve that targets that it is setting for itself. I always enjoy a Reuters event, particularly because the audiences are always incredibly engaged and ask a LOT of great questions... which makes moderating a delight! #ESG #ESGData #RBEU

The proposed joint data standards for the Financial Data Transparency Act (FDTA) were issued in August 2024. The public is invited to make comments on the proposed rule by October 21, 2024. In this blog, we will walk through the different data standards that were proposed jointly by the 9 agencies.
