💡 Exciting developments at AEDES as we spotlight one of our most recent projects, a #pipeline design and #engineering partnership with an esteemed client in the energy industry. From the beginning, our team was tasked with an intricate challenge—addressing an exposed pipeline that weaves through Jacobs Creek, under historical structures that support NJ SR29 and the Delaware/Raritan Canal, and finally into the Delaware River...   Following a detailed evaluation, our client selected a relocation strategy that our engineering and design team meticulously crafted, covering preliminary and final engineering designs. This innovative relocation involves a 14-inch HDD (Horizontal Directional Drilling) crossing, stretching approximately 2,475 feet in length include both horizontal and vertical curves. AEDES coordinated and obtained 20 civil, environmental permits and regulatory approvals. The scrutiny of this crossing was intensified as it was upriver of the Trenton and Philadelphia water intakes.   The complexity of the operation was heightened by the HDD entry and exit points being located within private residential and historically significant properties in PA and NJ, respectively. GGP Consult provide considerable resources with a wide range of expertise - including Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Marine Engineering, Seismic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture and Project Management.   Project Example... Drax Group have 15,000 stairs, ladders & walkways across their site in Yorkshire - a requisite (under the GENSIP regulations aimed at coal fired power stations) is to maintain the condition of all accessways to avoid injury or death, and the challenge was for us to check every single one of them and report back!   GGP Consult have a specialised team set up for inspections - this is done on a three-year programme (as no asset should fall beyond four years between inspections). We travelled to every single asset, recording the status on a spreadsheet and including photos of any defects. The spreadsheet was setup to give every asset a unique alphanumeric code to indicate its location on site and within a building/structure.    Toughbooks are used to populate the spreadsheet and take/store the photo's, and each month we have a meeting with Drax Group to monitor progress and discuss any issues (health & safety, outages, access, RAMS etc). I just completed John Holland Australia's Civil Engineering Simulation on Forage. In the simulation I , • Completed a job simulation working across a range of construction tasks including a new bridge, high-rise, and rail. • Calculated the volumes of concrete for pile caps and abutments for a bridge and compared subcontractor rates. • Compared two building drawings to identify differences and arranged tasks in the correct sequencing order. • Reviewed placement of CCTV camera at an island stop to ensure safety requirements were met. #CivilEngineering #ProfessionalDevelopment #CareerGrowth #InfrastructureDevelopment ..

Let's drill down a little further into Site Control --> Principle 1: Hire the engineering firm that designed the project to place your site control. Site survey control is not always in a common coordinate system. It can be arbitrary, modified state plane or adjusted to line up with a neighboring project. The plans don't always clearly communicate how your site control is set up, but the project Engineer's Surveyor will have the information to get it right.
