As a recruiter, there are some roles where you give a standard pitch to the candidates. Introduction calls can kind of look quite similar and as time goes on, you get less excited. Occasionally, you get the kind of role where, as time goes on and you speak to more candidates, you get more excited, and the pitch changes constantly. I don't post about roles on LinkedIn too often, but considering this one is quite cool, I have to share it. We're looking for Brand Partnerships Directors across the UK, East Coast, and Chicago to sell in-game advertising campaigns. Appreciation Post: When someone invests in you and gives you the tools to go next level, you invest back. It’s a simple concept that a ton of companies, radio stations, networks and businesses fail to get. I have been used, lied to, and abused on my way up in the Sports industry. It’s one of the reasons why I vowed to treat my PR business and clients like people. PR is a word that can mean many things and is often misunderstood. HIRING...The MoonBall Media team spent the last week filming 14 shows in 7 days in Arizona at spring training. Some guests we welcomed: Fernando Tatis & Jurickson Profar, Manny Machado & Yonder Alonso, Salvador Perez, Bobby Witt Jr, Christian Yelich, Mike Moustakas, Tyler Glasnow, Mike Sweeney, Ron Washington & Eric Young Sr, Brice Butler, and special military guest Josh Appel (known for leading the extraction of Navy Seal Marcus Luttrell, as depicted in the movie Lone Survivor.) 🚨 NEWS: Sports Illustrated – Print edition 'Saved'   It was curtains for Sports Illustrated just a few days ago. The New York Times quoted employees saying the print edition would cease publication in May, ending a 70-year run.   But now a new media company will reportedly be taking the reins: The Arena Group will cede control to Minute Media, a New York-based company founded in 2011. Sports broadcasters/commentators, treat broadcasting like a pro sport - let's goooo: Ed Bowers recently shared some brilliant insights from seasoned professionals in the sports broadcasting industry and it got me thinking about the valuable advice I've received throughout my own career. One point that really resonated with me was Teddy Draper's approach to treating broadcasting like a pro sport. Just like athletes spend countless hours perfecting their craft, we as broadcasters need to practice relentlessly. Whether it's radio, television or digital platforms, find what works for you and hone your skills through consistent practice. Another key takeaway Ed mentions is from Rebecca Charlton. Seize every opportunity. Her mantra of saying yes and creating your own opportunities is spot on. Put yourself out there, be confident and don't let setbacks shake your resolve. Trust me, I've had my fair share of knockbacks but it's all about perseverance. Patience is also a virtue in this game. Ed spoke about Adriano Del Monte's journey highlighting that success in sports broadcasting doesn't happen overnight. It's the result of hard work, dedication and the willingness to keep pushing forward, even when things get tough. But perhaps the most important lesson, as Stella Mills emphasises, is the power of relatability and rapport. Our ability to connect genuinely with our audience and guests is what sets us apart. It's not just about the words we say, but the way we make people feel. Shon Osimbo also stresses the importance of shedding shyness and boldly reaching out for support when embarking on a career in sports broadcasting. Seizing opportunities and seeking mentorship are key ingredients for success in this field. So, to all the aspiring sports broadcasters out there, take these lessons from Ed's article to heart. Practice hard, grab every opportunity, stay patient and always strive to build authentic connections. Your unique voice and perspective are what will make you stand out in this competitive industry. Sports reporting has been one of the coolest on-camera experiences I’ve had so far in my career! 🏈 It’s so intense, high energy, and very busy. As someone who is an overthinker, I’ve noticed that through these go, go, go experiences, I’ve been able to shut that off. Staying in the moment is one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned, and it was very insightful to see it naturally happen when I step into those environments. As someone with no sports reporting, step into that field, here are a few things I’ve learned… 🏈 Do prior research if you can on players, past games, and anything you can dig up. 🏈Be able to be flexible, and change things at drop of a hat. 🏈Be bold, make choices, get the content because nobody is going to hold you accountable or tell you what to do. 🏈Don’t be afraid to ask for help, talk to the players, communication is key! Last week, the iconic sports magazine Sports Illustrated (SI) announced major layoffs which may sadly signal the end of its operations and brand. As a kid, my parents got me a subscription to SI. A highlight every week was going to our mailbox 📬 to get the SI magazine, to check out the SI cover and to read great sports articles. About 10 years ago, the "Miracle on Ice" SI cover in the picture below from March 3, 1980 when we 🇺🇸 beat the Russians in hockey 🏒 in the 1980 Winter Olympics was voted as the all-time greatest SI Cover. It's unfortunate to see the probable end to SI as it (along with many other traditional forms of print media) have struggled to make the transition to digital media. As a result, some will say that SI had become a "dinosaur" 🦕. The SI situation is a good reminder that we all need to constantly adapt and embrace change to avoid becoming extinct in our careers. It also means that as automation technology and artificial intelligence become much more prevalent in the legal industry, lawyers need to strengthen these so-called "soft skills" which are really "critical success skills": ⚖️ Using Technology & Data ⚖️ Excellent Judgment ⚖️ Active Listening ⚖️ Embracing Empathy ⚖️ Problem Solving ⚖️ Clear & Concise Communication ⚖️ Strong Advocacy & Influence ⚖️ Relationship Building ⚖️ Effective Collaboration ⚖️ Knowledge Sharing What other key skills will lawyers need to embrace in an AI-infused world?
