Purpose Mentoring is now officially a partner of The Recruitment Network #TRN ! Since last November, Steve Twinley has been providing counselling and mentoring to individuals within a range of businesses, many of which are in the Recruitment sector. Purpose sessions are private, online meetings to help people who are trying their best to manage the pressures of their job whilst also dealing with challenges at home. Being a qualified counsellor and ex-MD of a recruitment business, Steve is deeply passionate about the importance of positive mental health within the recruitment world. Wellbeing is becoming an increasingly essential topic for all recruitment businesses to address, and this partnership with TRN will help to expand this network to share ideas about offering tangible, meaningful support to recruiters at all levels. One of Steve's first engagements will be to present a webinar on 28th May, as part of TRN's 'High Performance' series. The theme will be Empathy, and how recruiters can use techniques such as 'reflecting back' to build greater rapport and trust with candidates. I didn't immediately identify as a First-Generation Professional (FGP). I knew early on in my career that certain things, such as getting a job or networking, felt different for me than it did for many of my peers. But I wasn't exactly sure why. It was only a bit further into my career when I realized that being an FGP came with its unique challenges and advantages. You never stop being an FGP, no matter how far you find yourself in your career. As your role, seniority, and responsibilities change, so should the support structures available to you as an FGP. This week, we published an article in First-Gen Rising exploring the ways that companies can continue supporting FGPs beyond day one. I was on my first solo business trip to London, and I decided on a whim to head to France for the weekend. Having never done anything of the sort before, it was the first time I felt the fruits of my hard work. It felt like I had arrived. This journey has been quite a long but fulfilling one. Looking back where we started, we can never be greatful enough for all the partnerships and collaborations that have emerged along the way. Its quite remarkable that, over 90% of the students we covered on arrival, have managed setting their feet on studies, trainings, language, jobs, volunteering etc. The next target is to secure long-term stability and especially excel in their career path. Integration is more than just a question of language. Its a process and a lifestyle. Integration can never be successful, if the questions surroundings personal security and well-being are not yet answered. We therefore need a holistic approach in this regard. We're endeavored to establishing sustainable and holistic supportive structures for these young talents.
