⚡ Flashback to Lynn Zoenen's passionate plea for investing in the 🇪🇺 European #space industry at last week's 16th European Space Conference in Brussels: 🎤 "Our decision to establish our base in Europe was driven by several compelling factors: the exceptional university talent pool, unaffected by brain drain to the US thanks to ITAR regulations; access to cutting-edge technologies at more reasonable valuations compared to other regions; and a political landscape that recognizes the crucial role of space technology in advancing many major industries." A special thanks to David DANA, Catherine Bender, Fabrizio Morgera, Antonella CALVIA-GOETZ, and Serena Sertore for the discussion! #EuropeanSpaceConf #venturecapital #newspace

Last week, the UK Government published the Space Industrial Plan, that sets out to modernise the relationship between government and the commercial space sector, establishing clear visions, missions, and actions to unlock growth and develop resilient space capabilities. Phil Chambers, CEO, said: "Orbex strongly supports the government's ambition to advance the space industry and is supporting this by providing a unique end-to-end UK launch capability to our UK and international partners, delivering their satellites into orbit from Sutherland Spaceport in Scotland. As mentioned in the report, Orbex continues to grow high value engineering and manufacturing jobs in Scotland and we are forecast to employ our 200th team member by the end of the year, demonstrating both our commitment to the growing space industry and establishing a leading global orbital launch services company in the UK for the benefit of all." "Session 10: Europe’s Role in Shaping the Future of Space: Leveraging strengths for global leadership" - " Europe has always been at the forefront of advocating for best practices in various critical aspects of space activities, notably in areas such as safety, security, sustainability, and international cooperation. In the current, increasingly complex, strategic and vulnerable environment both in space and on Earth, promoting these core values and principles is not only essential for fostering responsible space exploration but can also be a key element in promoting Europe as a credible leader in the global space ecosystem. Against the backdrop of the EUSL but also looking more broadly at the way in which Galileo and Copernicus have developed as global benchmarks and are used by international partners all over the world, and at how ESA has collaborated with international partners in multiple areas, including in space exploration and scientific missions; this session will look at key European strengths, and at how these can be leveraged to foster international partnerships and position Europe as a global partner in the international space field.
