Haha, do you remember the breakfast scene? Today is EAT BETTER BREAKFAST DAY, which should be every day! Unfortunately, half of us go for carbohydrates. That is, things like fruit, toast, cereal, porridge, waffles, pancakes, chocolate spread, orange juice, etc. Why? 💥 We wake up dehydrated and, as a result, tend to crave carbs. 💥 The majority of us do not get proper rest and need an energy boost after waking up to a-a-actually feel woken up instead of feeling like a zombie. So, we turn to coffee and carbohydrates. It might feel like it has helped in the moment. However, then you have a mid-morning crash and are roller-coasting through the rest of the day. 💥 Many of us have created schedules for themselves where we are pressed for time in the mornings. So, we go for 'quick' things. And what is quick? Cereal, toast, fruit... 💥 We are not taught that indeed breakfast is the most important meal of the day. And that non-starchy veggies, herbs and protein are the best breakfast foods. Not only they give us lasting #energy but, also, guess what? When we have them for breakfast it helps us significantly with digesting foods that we consume through the rest of the day. 💥 Most importantly, we are brainwashed by #food manufacturers (via tv ads, product placements in movies and other types of #marketing) to start our day with carbs. Such as, there is a flood of ads showing happy kids eating cereal. They subconsciously convince us that giving it for breakfast to your child equals to being a good parent. While muesli, cereal, etc. are usually loaded not only with sugar but also preservatives. 💥 Don't get me even started on purposefully bright packaging and strategic 'product placement' in supermarkets to begin with! Now that I know better, I pre-cook things for breakfast that would boost my brain performance, focus, and SUSTAINED ENERGY. Such as: 🥗🥗🥗 Green leafy salad with extra virgin olive oil, thanks to citizen scientist Max Lugavere. We are not talking about a plate of lettuce. According to Max, it should contain spinach and rocket (aka arugula) to improve our brain function and health. And you are welcome to play with the recipe by adding seeds, veggies, avocado and other types of berries. I also add some protein like chicken or salmon. 🥗🥗🥗 Alternatively, when I experience #anxiety, I make an omelette, thanks to the insightful DNA performance expert Alessandra Edwards. I precook veggies the night before or on weekends. So, all I have to do in the morning is to mix them with eggs. 🥗🥗🥗 For chilly mornings or when you experience #depression, however, I would recommend to have a soup. A hot soup is so very comforting. And, overall, good quality bone broth is a panacea for our tummies, that is, our gut and gut microbiome. It's easy to have a healthy breakfast if you give it a bit of thought and invest a bit of time the night before ❤ #whatinspiresme is #personaldevelopment and #investing in your #health and #wellbeing
