Founder Honest Video: Giving corporate video the attention it deserves | Strategic video marketing agency | Co-founder Xplnr
Chatting with Abbie Dando recently, we got talking about how I make a four-day week happen alongside family, events, running Honest and Xplnr, and so on… The honest answer is that I’m really strict with my diary. Sorry to be boring. → I diarise my finishing times. → I lock away my laptop when I’m not working. → I do stuff like weekly meal prep to make the week easier. It doesn’t always work. I sometimes pick up work on my fifth day. Occasionally I work evenings and sometimes on holiday when needs absolutely must. BUT I make space and time for my non-negotiables: ✅ Being with my kids when they finish school ✅ Taking them to their after-school clubs. ✅ Being at home for their bath and bedtimes. ✅ Spending time with Kate each night. ✅ Making time for Xplnr (my side gig). A consistent effort to stay disciplined helps me focus on what I can control (and remain sane in the process)! Look 👀 , here's a photo of me running Meadow to her nursery in my blocked-out time for exercise on a Tuesday so it does work. Most of the time.

“This is the 2nd best day of my life- after being born” I organise rooms and routines with children in mind, and one of those routines is the school run. I have a long term private client through my business and every morning we get to play a game. The children take turns on what we choose but recently, to keep everything more fair, I get to choose Mondays! After breakfast, reading, teeth and hair; I suggested we could go to the park, on the proviso that when I said we had to leave, we had to leave. I very rarely have a morning routine that isn’t calm, organised and happy. The children I look after are usually skipping or pretending to be on a horse or motorbike, they are happy and giggling. This is because I have created a routine where they know what and when. I habit overlap, I have times and routines that we do every morning so it’s literally second nature, for us all. It makes me so sad when I see children being marched to school, when the parents are stressed and the children are overwhelmed. It doesn’t have to be this way. I wrote a book called “More to Organising” to help with all routines and I also have in-person and online support. Click on the link in my bio to buy the book or book a free 15 minute consultation call to see how I can help your family. #schoolrun #routines #family #habit #bestdayofmylifeafterbeingborn #thankyouforbeingyou

With Easter approaching and therefore school Easter holidays I thought I'd put up a post in solidarity with all the small business owners who find it hard to manage your time when the kids are about. You need to stay on top of our business and keep momentum going and you also need to take advantage and spend as much quality time with your family as you can. They are the reason that many of us do what we do. #family #schoolholidays #easter #smallbusiness #ownermanager #timemanagement #worklifebalance
