We appreciate that taking part can be time-consuming for affiliates, but it is also essential to make sure we’re supporting school communities in the best way possible. Demonstrating this impact allows WACSSO to advocate for more funding, more grants and better P&C-school relationships. - Allowing P&Cs to reflect on their own individual achievements and celebrate these as a team. - Showing all those who read the results what resources and facilities are being funded in WA public schools through the actions of P&Cs. Hi community, I'll be presenting at the Visitor Studies Association's Annual Conference on July 18th in St. Paul, MN (the stolen lands of the Dakota people). The talk is titled "Redefine Visitor Studies Using Community Voice: A Creative Evaluation Story." I'll share about the Creative Evaluation & Engagement (CE&E) approach, how it works in practice, and how we integrate arts-based methods into the process. I will also briefly touch on how this work mirrors Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR), and how CBPR pairs well with CE&E. I was supposed to give this talk with Sully Moreno, but Sully won't be able to join us IRL. Perhaps, like we did for AEA, we will offer a virtual session for those who aren't attending VSA. In 2021, Anna Rebecca "AR" Lopez and I led a presentation titled "Centering Community: A Radical Discussion for Change in Visitor Research," which touched on #communitycentricfundraising and #evaluation. <3

Yesterday, I shared a report from American Student Assistance and Education Strategy Group that examines how states are exploring new ways to measure and support the long-term success of students in their reporting, accountability, and incentive systems. While there is still progress to be made, we're moving in the right direction to ensure that schools and organizations can accurately target their work to address specific gaps and shortcomings. And thankfully, this means there are some very promising programs out there that we can observe. I've laid out these initiatives, and more, in the latest edition of ASA's newsletter PivotED.
