Breaking the Stigma of Recovery! As professionals, we strive for growth and excellence in our careers, but sometimes we face personal challenges that can impact our lives and work. I want to share a message of hope and support for those who have overcome substance use disorders and are working towards recovery. Recovery is a journey, not a destination. It takes courage, resilience, and determination to overcome addiction and rebuild one's life. Despite the progress made, a lot of people face a new challenge which is, the lack of trust and understanding from others. Let's break the stigma surrounding recovery and support those who are working hard to rebuild their lives and careers. Let's recognize the strength and resilience it takes to overcome addiction and the value they bring to our families, communities, and workplaces. Together, we can create a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone can thrive. Let's celebrate recovery and support those who are on this journey.

Every September we celebrate National Recovery Month. It’s a time to reflect on who we are and take stock of why we’re dedicated to treating people with substance use disorders. Yes, it’s difficult and heavy work. But watching recovery in action everyday is enormously rewarding. That’s our privilege. Here’s what we get to see: The rebuilding of relationships between parents and their children; regaining custody, time, and trust; the resolve of pregnant people making tremendously difficult, selfless choices to reshape their lives; of peer recovery specialists dedicated to making recovery easier for others than it was for them. The resilience of people who are grieving lost loved ones, coping with past trauma, grief, and abuse, and navigating tremendous threats to their safety – from housing and food instability to intimate partner violence to mental health conditions. The responses – thousands – we receive every month from patients detailing the hardships they face to recover and shape the life they envision, but again and again, seeing them do it. When people have dignity, resources, and support, they recover: and we get to walk alongside them. Recovery has enormous ripple effects. The reverberations of one person’s recovery expands well beyond the individual. Recovery can heal families and communities. Recovery can break generational cycles and fix broken systems. More than 20 million Americans do it everyday. They are living a life in recovery as they define it for themselves. For National Recovery Month, we are reflecting on the progress we’ve made and the work that needs to be done. 💜 #RecoveryMonth #NationalRecoveryMonth

In the journey of recovery, whether from addiction, mental health challenges, or other life-altering experiences, the role of peer support cannot be overstated. Having peers who understand, empathize, and share similar experiences can profoundly impact one’s path to healing. Peer support fosters a sense of community, reduces feelings of isolation, and provides invaluable insights and encouragement. It’s a reminder that recovery is not a solitary endeavor but a shared experience where mutual understanding and support play a crucial role. Peers offer relatable perspectives that clinical guidance alone may not provide. They exemplify resilience and hope, proving that recovery is not just a possibility but an achievable reality. Especially during Recovery Month, let’s recognize and celebrate the strength and compassion of our peer workforce. Their contribution is an essential pillar in the recovery journey, driving progress and inspiring hope. 🚀 Reflecting on Two Years of Strategic Partnership with Third Horizon Strategies 🚀 As we celebrate the five-year journey of innovation and impact embarked upon by Third Horizon Strategies, highlighted in Greg Williams' inspiring post today, we at siftia are especially proud to mark our two-year collaboration with this trailblazing team. Our journey together has been one of mutual growth, shared values, and a relentless pursuit of transforming the American health system. The "Transparency in Coverage" regulation stands as a monumental challenge and opportunity within the healthcare sector, aimed at unraveling the complexities of healthcare costs and empowering consumers with actionable insights. At Siftia, we have been privileged to work alongside THS, providing data solutions that not only meet this regulatory requirement but also drive forward the mission of making healthcare more accessible and comprehensible for all. Our partnership has been rooted in the understanding that at the heart of innovation lies the power of data to illuminate paths forward and to challenge the status quo. The dedication of THS to disrupt and improve the healthcare system, particularly by focusing on mental health and addiction as critical drivers of costs, aligns with our ethos of leveraging technology for meaningful change. The words of Joseph Green of LMSvoice, invoking the spirit of St. Jude, remind us of the deeper purpose of our work: to fight for those who are often overlooked, to bring hope to those considered lost causes, and to heal together as a community. It is this spirit that inspires our team at Siftia every day to push the boundaries of what is possible with data, to support the visionaries at THS, and to contribute to a healthcare ecosystem that values every individual's well-being. As we look to the future, we are excited by the potential of our partnership with THS to innovate, inspire, and impact lives positively. Together, we are not just navigating the complexities of healthcare reform but are also laying the foundation for a system that is transparent, equitable, and compassionate. Congratulations to David Smith, Greg Williams, and the entire THS team on reaching this significant milestone. Here's to more years of collaboration, innovation, and shared success in our quest to reshape healthcare for the better. #DataForGood #HealthcareInnovation #TransparencyInCoverage #Siftia #ThirdHorizonStrategies
Five years ago today, I was invited by David Smith to join him on a new adventure he founded in 2018, Third Horizon Strategies. It's been one hell of a ride trying to play our small part in disrupting the status quo of the broken American health system through the design of innovative payment models, focusing our attention intensely on mental health and addiction as it is THE often-ignored key driver of costs. Through this work, we have brought actionable data insights to the table and provided policy guidance to counties, states, and the federal government. I am humbled by the incredible 20+ talented and obsessively mission-driven group of individuals who have joined us in this adventure. In the words of the brilliant Joseph Green's St. Jude: "We must learn to live this life with the spirit of St. Jude. Let us use this life and this light, and these words as a beacon of hope for anyone who has ever considered themselves a lost cause. We fight for the breakers and the broken. For the feared and the fearful. For the damaged and the damager, so that they know that they are not alone, that we are all here hurting and healing together. We fight for the millions we’ve lost, for the families searching for purpose amongst the embers of lives extinguished far too soon. We fight for communities that have been ravished by a system that have too long punished the crime, instead of treating the disease, we fight so that we might make this world as we would have it be. Not just by knowing what we are fighting against, but by knowing and never forgetting what we are fighting for."
