Strengthening the Competence and Influence of Men in Africa and Internationally

Did you know that, through the Engagement of Diaspora Professionals (EDP), GERMIN has engaged over 100 diaspora professionals in Kosovo and Albania in the last four years? 🌍 In the last two years, within the MARDI project, 25 diaspora experts have closely collaborated with municipalities 🏢. They've identified needs, conducted analyses, and developed detailed plans, bringing innovative solutions to challenges in areas such as the environment 🌿, education 📚, law ⚖, finances 💰📈, and human resources 👥. So true we as a people are so blinded. 😥 Dr. Arikana Chihombori-Quao's impassioned call to recognize Africa as the pinnacle of the world resonates deeply with me. It's a powerful reminder of the rich history, diverse cultures, and untapped potential that the continent holds. In embracing this perspective, I find myself echoing her plea for collective pride in our African roots. It's not just a matter of heritage; it's a declaration against historical misrepresentations and a celebration of the vibrant tapestry that is Africa. The urgency she expresses, especially regarding what she terms as a 'Critical Mass' being ignorant, strikes a chord. There's a concern that without a collective awakening to Africa's significance, we risk withering away, oblivious to the wealth of contributions the continent can make to the global stage. This isn't just about the past; it's about shaping a future where Africa stands tall and proud. Dr. Arikana's vision for empowerment and transformation aligns with my belief in the need for economic and political upliftment. It's a call to address disparities, foster stability, and unite African nations for a common cause. What particularly resonates with me is her emphasis on the diaspora's power. The acknowledgment of the strength and influence of those with African heritage outside the continent is a rallying cry for collaborative efforts, investments, and knowledge exchange to contribute meaningfully to Africa's growth. In embracing Dr. Arikana's perspective, I find a call to action, a reminder that our collective awareness and pride can be catalysts for a transformative journey for Africa. It's not just rhetoric; it's a passionate plea for a renaissance that involves every individual of African descent, wherever they may be, in the shared narrative of Africa's resurgence

FLASH BACK OF (2023/05/30) THE NATURE OF AFRICA PROBLEMS I have severally argued that the problems of African states are foundational, fundamental, structural and successive in nature(which establishes its complexities, complications or even contradictions), and unless we chose to unbundle them and confront them foundationally, fundamentally, structurally and successively, we would continue to romance and Play around them while they keep evolving and manifesting in diverse forms. The problems of 1960s are still the problems of today, though in coated forms. There must of necessity be a crossbreed of new thinking and such thinking must be assertive and affirmative enough to swallow up the insecurity between policy formulation and implementation. It's time we take ownership, face our challenges head-on, and write our own success story.   Loving Africa means believing in its people and their power to overcome. We need to start actively fixing our problems in ways that work for us. This is about taking charge and shaping our destiny.   Every day is a chance to write a new chapter in Africa's story. It's not just about seeing the problems, it's about working together to solve them. By believing in ourselves, we pave the way for a brighter future where Africa controls its narrative.   The time is now! We can't let our story be written on our behalf. This is a call to action, a chance to unite and build a better Africa, one challenge at a time. We've got the resilience, the innovation, and the spirit to overcome anything.   Every African holds the power to rewrite our narrative, one story at a time. At ASE, we build the bridge, beyond reasonable doubt, connecting African potential to boundless possibilities. Now, more than ever, our collective ambition is to seek solutions that rewrite our narrative, seed by seed, until Africa becomes the author of its destiny.   How can we collectively reclaim our narrative? I’m participating in the ongoing Academic Conference on Redefining Africa Futures organized by the United Nations Office of the Special Adviser on Africa. It is important that we ensure equity and inclusion in this conversation. The voices and opinions must be inter-generational. There’s need for convergence of actionable ideas between academics and practitioners which should result to effective policy outcomes across Africa. And we should also not forget the voices and agency of the locals and less privileged people in African communities. The future of Africa should be one where everyone has a voice.

South Africa struggles—“Yet it was obvious that the ANC leaders had lost touch with the living circumstances of its poorest members. The ties that had once bound ANC leaders to their constituencies — trust and moral credibility — had loosened and the party was operating less as a broad church than as a dysfunctional collection of special interests held together by history. It is unsurprising that the era of ANC dominance is coming to an end. For thirty years, South Africa’s prospects have been determined by the state of the ANC. If the ANC sneezed, the country caught a cold. As the negotiations for a unified government begin, it is far from clear who will govern South Africa over the next few years. What is clear is that for the first time in thirty years the ANC’s prospects will be determined by the people, rather than the other way around. With the electorate firmly in the driver’s seat, I am reminded of the opening words of the Freedom Charter that guided the ANC for its eighty years as a liberation movement: “The people shall govern.” The ANC is learning just how prophetic these words have turned out to be.” No great surprise there.
