Reminder: To check in on your temporary workers working in hospitality at this time of year. December is always a busy time for hospitality. Work events. Christmas parties. Loads of people going out with friends. The temporary workers on your books will be rushed off their feet. So don't forget to check in on them. See if there is any support you can offer to make sure that your good workers feel looked after and want to stay on your books in the new year. #recruitment #recruitmentsoftware #recruiters #temporarywork

Below is statement in the article on #dutyofcare (DoC) for #people which includes when they travel. (People Risk Management) However, the HR's responsibility should start with ensuring that the organization is addressing DoC for their People and who has responsibility when they are traveling. HR should be a business partner in working with management to ensure that a #trm (ISO 31030) program is implemented. As a last resort, likely in very small organizations, HR would need to take on implementing a simple TRM program themselves. Outsourcing is always an option too. "Duty of Care For one, businesses have a duty of care over their employees on a day-to-day basis – a duty of care that, naturally, extends to employees travelling in a business capacity. It is HR’s responsibility to uphold this duty of care, and so any travel decisions or itineraries should be made available to HR departments in order that they can contact workers and respond to emergencies accordingly." "It is HR’s responsibility to uphold this duty of care, and so any travel decisions or itineraries should be made available to HR departments in order that they can contact workers and respond to emergencies accordingly." Is it? HR certainly can, and sometimes do, play a role. But a responsibility to contact and respond - I beg to differ.

Jutta´s CHINA WEEKLY: Special Edition "International Workers Day in China" 🖥 😎 5 yuè 1 rì / 5月1日 International Workers Day in China - all about business life in China you need to know on this special day! 1.) Harmony Zhōngyōng / 中庸and teamwork are prized, with a deep respect for authority. Dating back to Confucian values, Chinese corporate environments still retain a largely hierarchical approach to organizational culture. 2.) Therefore the boss Lǎobǎn / 老闆 is always right while employees tend to follow instructions. Seniors are respected by being approached, especially by their titles such as Ph.D. 3.) Building relationships Guānxì / 關係 is crucial for success, and diligence is a hallmark. Business seeks and maintains long-term relationships. Whom you know and how well you know them is of high importance. 4.) Making mistakes is seen as highly shameful. The concept of Miànzi / 面子, meaning saving your face, is extremely important. This means that your team members will do their utmost to consistently deliver excellent results. 5.) Why are also the team members work hard to save their face? The concept of mutual responsibility dates back at least to the Song dynasty (960-1279 BCE). The bǎojiǎ /保甲 system was introduced: Ten households were bound into one unit, a jiǎ 甲, and ten jiǎ into a bǎo 保. It was a concept of collective responsibility. If one member of a bǎojiǎ /保 failed, all members were harshly punished. 6.) To give you a practical example: In a meeting of the Board of Directors of a European company, the CEO duly reported that some business targets were not achieved. The Chinese chairman had only one question: How do you punish your management? 7.) And a final note on "996" 九九六 / Jiǔjiǔliù: Chinese people do not dismiss the importance of working hard but they truly embrace it, believing that hard work begets success. Working overtime is common as well as working on weekends. Working hours can start from 8am and 10am and finish between 6pm to 10pm or later. China is known for its 996 system where employees are expected to work six days a week, from 9am to 9pm. Fun Fact! Naps are commonplace during lunchtime: Lunch breaks tend to be a long affair in China. Instead of taking a quick bite and going back to work, people usually take a nap during lunchtime. No wonder that standard working hours are set to account for the 1.5 to 2-hour break. Stay tuned and enjoy your free Workers Day wherever you are! Watching with interest what the impact of Greece's new laws will be - extending the work week to six days for certain industries, including 24-hour services, retail, agriculture, and some manufacturing sectors. These additional hours will be compensated at a 40% premium, rising to 115% on holidays. The Government has positioned this as a measure to address Greece's shortage of skilled workers and shrinking, aging population; with other claims the extended work week is "worker-friendly" and will boost economic growth. Greece's unemployment still lingers above 10%, and average monthly wages remain significantly lower than 15 years ago. Which way will these metrics go now? https://lnkd.in/gV9smd-f

Director of the representative office at La Banque Postale with expertise in corporate strategy and lobbying
**Greece's six-day workweek: A model to follow?** 🇬🇷🛠️ Greece is moving towards a six-day workweek. Since yesterday, certain industrial and manufacturing facilities, as well as businesses providing 24/7 services, have the option to adopt a six-day workweek instead of the traditional five days. 📊 **New provisions:** - The legal workweek increases from 40 hours to 48 hours. - Employees can choose to work more if companies request it, with better pay for those who work extra. - Simplification of administration and reduction of trial periods to six months. - Clarification of overtime rules. 🔧 **Objectives:** - Address skilled labor shortages. - Combat undeclared work. - Offer incentives such as free training for employees to adapt to market requirements. 📉 **Challenges:** - Low wages, high unemployment rates, and a declining population. - Many well-educated young Greeks are leaving the country, which could reduce the population to around 10.4 million by 2029. 💰 **Wages:** - Monthly minimum wage for white-collar workers: 830 euros (compared to 650 euros in 2019). - Average monthly wage: around 1,250 euros. - Target of 1,500 euros by 2027. 📈 **Persistent issues:** - Wage increases do not compensate for previous wage cuts and persistently high inflation. - Many citizens need two jobs to make ends meet. - New regulations give employers significant leeway, and union representation is often absent, especially in SMEs. 🌍 **Comparison with other countries:** - In contrast to Greece, countries like Germany, Belgium, France, the UK, Spain, and Iceland are testing compressed workweeks of four 10-hour days. Greece is thus taking a different path. Although this model may address some immediate needs, it remains to be seen whether it will be adopted elsewhere in Europe or if it will solve long-term economic and social challenges. #Work #Greece #Workweek #Economy #Politics #Europe
