Here's my 2024 LinkedIn Rewind. Design has no borders. In 2024, San Diego Tijuana didn't just prove this—we redefined it. This year transformed from a decade-long dream into a blueprint for cross-border innovation. As President of FreshForm. and Board Member of World Design Capital San Diego Tijuana 2024, I witnessed how design thinking can dissolve boundaries and create meaningful experiences. Our key victories weren't just about events—they were about reimagining what's possible: • Leading the World Design Capital designation (www.wdc2024.org), proving that two cities separated by a border can unite through design leadership • Hosting groundbreaking conferences (DDX) that brought global design experts to our region • Providing strategic advisory work to AI companies like Credo AI (Advancing responsible AI through AI Governance) and no-code GenAI app building with Aliases, Inc. Jukka Savolainen talks about the transformative power of design and creativity in this Scandinavian MIND's article, well worth reading. 'Today, design is so much broader, it covers all areas of life, whether it’s the physical world, the virtual world, or the digital worlds that we now live in as well. This transformative power of design is so important to understand. — I like the way Aalto University talks about ’radical creativity.’ The core idea of radical creativity is to bring creativity and creative thinking into the equation in order to create new solutions, not to just improve on what we have. It’s about bringing creativity and cross-disciplinary perspectives into processes, the way we work, and how we do it, whether it’s in governmental structures and decision-making or in organisations and companies — and how to make products and services. It’s a very, very big change and it’s difficult to get people to understand the depth of the change that we are facing." #radicalcreativity

Stunning 🤩! Our very own Aalto University Design System is a Silver Anthem Winner at The Anthem Awards in the Responsilbe Technology category! 🏆 This one is by far the one that I am most proud of as the Anthem Awards celebrate purpose and mission-driven work and the competition is global. The fact that it was in the Responsible Technology category is the cherry on top as our design system is intended to be an inclusive, accessible and energy efficient way to create Aalto branded experiences for all users! 🌱 A massive congratulations to Anna Savisaari, Christopher Wall, Sami Sorvali, Joona Viljanen, Tuomas Karhu and everyone else involved! The Design Thinking & Innovation Week 🚀 in London 🇬🇧 by the Future London Academy was such an incredibly rich and inspiring experience that a complete list of my takeaways would be endless. In four days, we learned from some of the most exciting leading agencies in London how they use innovative tools and creativity to tackle the opportunities and challenges of our world. Through exciting presentations and workshops, we were able to try the tools and techniques together. And all of this in a group of 30 wonderful, warm, and inspiring design leaders from around the world. The exchange with this diverse and open group alone has given me so much. Thank you! 🩷 I'll still give it a try with my top 3 insights from this week: ⭐️ Innovation arises through co-creation by people who bring different perspectives and experiences. AI tools can only support this process. ⭐️ It is worth investing a lot of time and energy into the "Discover" phase. It's completely okay if the process is chaotic and confusing. In the end, this is the only way to truly understand the actual problem. ⭐️ Storytelling and design are essential when it comes to motivating people with new ideas and messages. This is the only way we can change the world. In 2023, The Centre for Sustainable Design ® (CfSD) launched a web-based self-help tool for Createch founders, CEOs and CTOs to help them benchmark their sustainability maturity and devise actions plans at no cost to the user. The tool provides: • Actionable guidance written by experts on Createch and Sustainability • Difficult to locate educational information all in one place • Links to valuable and relevant external content such as funding and networking events • A way to measure progress in improving sustainability maturity The tool currently has over 270 users in over 20 countries. Starting 17th April, The Centre for Sustainable Design ® (CfSD) is running a series of 30minute collaborative learning and exchange to integrate sustainability deeply into the #Createch sector. The events are focused on founders, CEOs and CTOs in Createch companies, particularly start-ups and scale-ups. However, all in the Creative Industries are welcome to attend and use the tool to help them move through their sustainability journey.
