It’s always a pleasure to connect with our members face-to-face. 🇵🇹 Today, we're in Lisbon to meet with Ambassador Florbela Paraíba, the newly appointed president of Camões - Instituto da Cooperação e da Língua, I.P. As the former Portuguese ambassador to Senegal, Paraíba is no stranger to EUNIC collaboration projects, both in Western Africa and elsewhere. We discussed approaches to more forward-facing cultural relations and share a commitment to cultural cooperation that goes beyond purely government-to-government relations. We must encourage civil society-led initiatives, working closely with European colleagues and local actors through EUNIC's global network. Let’s continue exploring how we can work together to make the EU’s vision for #TeamEurope a reality. 🤝

📣 Translation grants for EU and UK publishers: get up to EUR 5,000 to bring Ukrainian literature to your readers! 🇺🇦Supported by the EU's House of Europe programme, this grant is your chance to uncover Ukrainian fiction and non-fiction books to your readers, catering to the evermore-rising interest in the country's literature. What do I get? 📘 Up to EUR 5,000 to cover the expenses on translation, editing, transfer of copyright, design, printing, and marketing of the book. The grant will help with up to 70% of the expenses.  📘 A chance to translate any Ukrainian book you find worthy: fiction, non-fiction, poetry, drama, or comics.  📘 An opportunity to publish a Braille book to make sure people with low vision can still enjoy Ukrainian bestsellers.  📘 Participation in the alumni community and new acquaintances among publishers that already won the grant. This week, EUNIC and the Goethe-Institut Almaty in #Kazakhstan are organising the EUNIC regional cluster meeting Central Asia & Caucasus to identify the most relevant topics in the regions and to explore solutions to some of the challenges of working together collaboratively as EUNIC. At the speed dating session today, colleagues had the opportunity to learn more about each others institutes, clusters, contexts and realities. #EUNICclusters #CulturalRelations

#Throwback to the EUNIC Climate Culture(s) Creative Lab in Berlin! 💚 🌱 Last year in June, as part of the Goethe-Institut's presidency of EUNIC, the #CCCLab brought to life new connections and collaboration among EUNIC members on environment, #climate, and #culture and to support emerging leadership on these topics. The programme gathered 31 representatives from 19 EUNIC member organizations from both headquarters in Europe and branches around the world. For the lab, EUNIC and Goethe-Institut partnered up with two expert partners to facilitate the week, namely Julie's Bicycle and Social Impact. 🔵 Culture was on the agenda for the first time at Europe's largest conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine - the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Berlin. As preparation the week before UNESCO and the government of Lithuania gathered 200 colleagues, and 30 National Delegations committed to the support of the recovery of Ukraine cultural sectors.   Recovery and long-term reconstruction of Ukraine must include conversations on the role of culture. This includes the protection of #CulturalHeritage as well as the multifaceted role the cultural sectors of Ukraine are playing in the resilience of the nation.   In her capacity as #EUNIC President, Camilla Mordhorst (CEO of Danish Cultural Institute) joined the conference as moderator and to underline the crucial role of culture for resilience and recovery.    The Ukraine Recovery Conference is an annual event that since 2017 has brought together European leaders to discuss and plan how the world can best support Ukraine's fight for freedom. 🔵 As the EUNIC presidency of the Danish Cultural Institute is coming to an end, Camilla Mordhorst, CEO of Danish Cultural Institute, is reflecting on her time as EUNIC President and the developments within the EUNIC network. Next week, EUNIC will convene in Bucharest for the General Assembly, co-hosted by the Romanian Cultural Institute 🇷🇴 who will assume the next EUNIC presidency.
