A blood test accurately diagnosed Alzheimer’s 90% of the time, study finds. It was much more accurate than primary care doctors using cognitive tests and CT scans. The findings could speed the quest for an affordable and accessible way to diagnose patients with memory problems. https://nyti.ms/3WpQDvP #dementia #ENDALZ #alzheimers

There is a disconnect between what we expect #Alzheimers diagnostic tools and treatments to do, and what we expect of the providers who administer them. To ensure system preparedness, we can’t solely rely on equipping PCPs. That might solve for one big issue, but it also exacerbates problems at other points in the patient journey. Healthcare systems and PCPs are under-resourced as it is; they’re not ready for an influx in patient demand as new #Alzheimers drugs emerge. We at Cogstate want to bring our muscle to a holistic solution to ultimately help primary care and system stakeholders––and we believe we need to do it in partnership with others. https://lnkd.in/g8ChamSM

Neuropathic pain is one of the most challenging complications faced by individuals with spinal cord injuries. In rehabilitation settings, a pivotal question often arises among physicians, therapists, and patients: Does exercise help alleviate this type of pain? There's no simple answer, but we've compiled extensive evidence and analyzed data to shed light on this crucial issue. I invite you to read our recent publication, "The Role of Exercise in the Alleviation of Neuropathic Pain Following Traumatic Spinal Cord Injuries: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis." Your insights and feedback would be highly appreciated. Access the full text here: https://lnkd.in/gdFNVcTg #SpinalCordInjury #NeuropathicPain #Rehabilitation #ExerciseTherapy

#STUDY: 85% of people with #MultipleSclerosis report challenges with everyday activities. This is according to a new survey of #MyMSTeam members, which also highlights the realities of MS with patients' own words. This type of feedback is crucial for #pharma and #HCPs to understand the full scope of MS and optimize treatment approaches. We're excited to present our research poster covering the far-reaching impact of MS at the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers (#CMSC) annual meeting this week. Knowing you have the genetic markers can help to focus on getting treatment earlier and adopting other healthy lifestyle changes that will improve your quality of life into your senior years. #AAIC24
In a large research study, reported for the first time at #AAIC24 and partially funded by the Association, blood tests 🩸 did a better job of accurately detecting Alzheimer's than primary care doctors and specialists who were using traditional diagnostic methods. The test was around 90% accurate in identifying Alzheimer’s in patients with cognitive symptoms at primary care and specialized memory care clinics compared to 63% and 73% accuracy when not using the test. Why this is exciting: Highly accurate blood tests could drastically reduce the time it takes to get a diagnosis, as well as accelerate access to new treatments.
