I am kicking myself for not taking pictures, but I was a bit busy taking my sister on a fragrance tour, but yesterday I got to get my nose on a few newer releases/pre sales that really wowed me.
First up: AMOUAGE Guidance 46. As amazing as the original is… this one is JUICY. Quentin Bisch and Renaud Salmon really put together an extrait that somehow up’s the sensual and seductive nature of the original. The pear really shines in the opening, and the sandalwood really adds a further creaminess to the dry down that really emphasizes the florals and woods.
Second a double feature:
Creed Centaurus and Delphinus.
I must admit I feel that the past 4 releases from Creed including these two, Queen of Silk and Carmina, plus the 2 limited releases in Absolu Aventus and Millésime 1849 have really impressed me. These new releases seem to be going in a new direction mixing old money luxury and new money modernization.
Centaurus fills a need I’ve had since losing Journey Man. It opened with a mix of spices with cardamom, pepper, cinnamon and tobacco, with a heart that really flows with the heliotirpin and patchouli adding that vanilla and musky aura, a creamy sandalwood, and that classy masculine touch of jasmine and geranium that perfectly bridges the spices in the top to a base. Both this and Delphinus have a phenomenal Bourbon Vanilla, but this one has an ambery and balsamic support. The Tonka really adds a froth that boost the vanilla even further.
Delphinus is simple, elegant, yet modern and fun. From what I’ve gathered there are three main notes that creed chose to focus on. Some of these three note fragrances are among my favorite (TMW EDP I… IYKYK and this reminds me of a super high end but very different counterpart). Iris, incredible incense, and Bourbon Vanilla. The twist here is that the Iris is sweet, and it adds an almost candy like twist to the fragrance. It is playful and extremely alluring.
Both of these new Creeds seemed aimed towards the upcoming fall/winter collection.
