𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘁? Often, the major resources sought after in sustainability and restoration work are financial resources. However, our #FASB project, realised that the power of networking is often overlooked. In Brazil, FASB has made networking part and parcel of project design, implementation and evaluation. The programme regularly brings together a wide array of stakeholders—𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀, 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀—united by a shared commitment to restoring degraded ecosystems and advancing sustainable land management as well as shared culture, belonging and humanity. We aim to leverage social capital for forest and landscape restoration. Social capital in this context means more than just networks; it’s about forming partnerships, developing trust, and leveraging shared experiences to enhance the impact of restoration projects. FASB is a living example of how networks create connections that 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲, 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 that benefit both the environment and communities. We facilitate collaborations between c𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 strengthening the local ability to restore forests and landscapes, scaling, and creating resilient ecosystems for present and future generations.
