Spotlight on @EASOobesityECN member: Julianne Lundanes from Norway 🇳🇴 Julianne's research aims to enhance our understanding of dietary interventions for managing lipedema and includes ✅ Exploring the potential benefits of a ketogenic diet for pain relief and improved quality of life in women with lipedema. ✅ Conducting a study comparing a ketogenic diet with a non-ketogenic low-energy diet, focusing on pain intensity, body composition, inflammation, and more, using MRI scans to examine subcutaneous adipose tissue. Lipedema, often misdiagnosed as obesity or lymphedema, involves excess fat buildup in the lower body, causing pain, tenderness, and reduced mobility, significantly affecting quality of life. The ketogenic diet is all the hype... the term "ketogenic diet" is used, even in the scientific literature, too often and inappropriately, for a lot of different diet forms and indications. This creates confusion and makes it virtually impossible to compare the results of studies. In our just published viewpoint article, we try to bring order to this chaos 😊 Thanks to Elles van der Louw, RD PhD, Monica Guglielmetti, Anna Tagliabue, Marisa Armeno, Cinzia Ferraris and Joanne Olieman. #ketogenicdiet #keto https://lnkd.in/eeaZ_eYZ

In Natural Cycles & Seasons: Antioxidants are a group of nutrients which prevent free radical damage to cells. Free radicals are implicated in the development of many diseases including cancer, heart disease, arthritis, bursitis, lupus, other auto immune diseases, and any inflammation or swelling. While antioxidants are readily available from our foods, our antioxidant defense systems are vulnerable to nutritional deficiencies due to the increased environmental toxic burden we are exposed to daily and the diets we eat. Therefore, increasing our susceptibility to disease and unhealthy aging.- If you would like more information about how this applies to your health and my approach to Preventative Medicine from a Naturopathic Perspective; subscribe to my email list to receive the full article at https://lnkd.in/gNuqK-4t

All articles in Nutrients MDPI (ISSN 2072-6643) Vol 16, Issue 2, are now freely available to access, read and download: https://brnw.ch/21wGOv7 COVER STORY: Fibromyalgia (FM) is often accompanied by chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). It is a poorly understood disorder that mainly affects women and leads to chronic pain, fatigue, and insomnia, among other symptoms, which decrease quality of life. Due to the inefficiency of current pharmacological treatments, increasing interest is being directed towards non-pharmacological multicomponent therapies. However, nutrition and chronobiology are often overlooked when developing multicomponent therapies. This narrative and critical review by by authors at IDIAPJGol (Institut d'Investigació en Atenció Primària de Salut Jordi Gol) explore the relevance of nutritional and chronobiological strategies in the therapeutic management of FM and the often-associated CFS. #REDOXEducation 🧬 Did you know our cells require REDOX Molecules to activate all our anti-oxidants? 💡 Did you know all chronic degenerative disease causes a glutathione deficiency? Also are you aware there was a study on C-19 cases where patients that had low glutathione had a much higher rate of mortality? Glutathione is our MASTER Antioxidant and supporting our cells with REDOX is the most powerful way to boost our antioxidant efficiency. Glutathione plays a role in many chemical reactions in your body. It also helps detoxify chemicals, including some that your body creates naturally, as well as pollutants and drugs. Comprehensive reviews on the significance of glutathione in human disease have been published on a regular basis in peer-reviewed medical journals. ⬇ Your supply of glutathione seems to decrease as you get older ⬇ Lower glutathione levels appear to go hand-in-hand with poorer health. ⬇ Glutathione levels in the body may be reduced by a number of factors, including poor nutrition, environmental toxins, and stress. ❌ Systemic bioavailability of orally consumed glutathione is poor ❓HOW can we boost glutathione ✅ Consume sulphur rich foods ✔️ regular exercise ✅ adequate and quality sleep ✔️ Avoid excessive alcohol Taking supplements that contain amino acids to boost glutathione has been used for many years by health professionals. REDOX supplementation can go even further boosting glutathione efficacy by up to 500%.

Intermittent fasting with Protein Pacing shows promise in improving gut health, weight management A study from Arizona State University published in Nature shows that intermittent fasting combined with protein pacing—eating protein evenly throughout the day—improves gut health, weight loss, and metabolic responses better than continuous calorie restriction. Participants who followed this regimen experienced reduced gastrointestinal symptoms and increased beneficial gut bacteria. The study highlights the potential of intermittent fasting and protein pacing as effective strategies for managing obesity and metabolic diseases by positively influencing the gut microbiome. 🥩 A new study reveals that tryptophan, primarily found in meat and dairy, can increase the risk of developing arthritis when gut bacteria break it down, producing inflammatory compounds. The study suggests that adopting a plant-based diet rich in fibers may promote anti-inflammatory effects, potentially reducing arthritis risk. What are your thoughts on the recent study linking meat consumption to an increased risk of arthritis? Read the full article at the link below. 🔗

🗣️ Let’s clear this up: A ketogenic diet does NOT cause insulin resistance! In fact, research and clinical experience demonstrate that low carbohydrate/ketogenic nutrition is one of the most effective ways to reverse insulin resistance and improve metabolic health. So why do some clinicians believe the opposite? 🤔 In our new video, Dr. Bret Scher breaks down the science of ketogenic therapy and insulin resistance. Watch now: https://lnkd.in/gQHqnaDT
