Educate, Advocate, and Empower with GPGB courses! It is increasingly well documented that biophilic elements such as live plants in buildings have measurable benefits to productivity, emotional wellbeing, stress reduction, and improved learning and healing. The inclusion of biophilic design elements into building standards (the WELL Building Standard, Fitwel, the Living Building Challenge, LEED) is creating an even greater need for biophilic design information. As part of GPGB’s core purpose is communicating the aesthetic, wellbeing, and economic benefits of nature in the built environment, we create courses credentialed for continuing education credit by the professional organizations listed below. These courses contain important research-based information about the biophilic design ethic’s contributions to human health, safety, and welfare, as well as practical information about how to specify indoor nature in the built environment. ➡️ Stay tuned for the release of the newest CEU: "Nature's Blueprint: Unleashing the Power of Biophilic Design. Biophilic design principles and real-world applications to inspire and connect us to the natural world. Delve into the science behind biophilia and learn practical strategies for seamlessly integrating nature into the built environment. This presentation will explain the impact that Biophilic Design has on human health and well-being by harnessing its transformative potential. From biophilic principles to real-world applications, we will provide a roadmap for creating spaces that inspire, rejuvenate, and connect us to the natural world. This course is fitting for all, whether you're a seasoned professional or a curious beginner!

Pleased to have passed the One Click LCA Life Cycle Construction Bootcamp! A really insightful training course looking at the life-cycle of construction, as a whopping 39% of global carbon emissions are caused by buildings of all types 🏢 🌍 The key insights that stood out were: 🏭 Embodied carbon is the biggest issue for the construction sector. By 2030, 40% of all embodied carbon needs to be removed globally to contribute significantly to Net Zero targets ⚒ Design for Disassembly. Designing a building for longevity includes after-life of materials... and there's so much work to be done to improve the 'cradle to cradle' cycle 🏘 Pre-fabrication + modular building assembly methods are the next trends. Low-carbon pre-fabricated buildings will become even more important in the event of global housing shortages.. think the IKEA flat pack of homes! Looking forward to joining more training bootcamps with the team at OneClick. #catraining #oneclicklca #constructionindustry #sustainability

Well, am writing this post but I must say it has been long overdue…. Last month, I attended the Better Buildings Bootcamp 2024 for 5 straight days and it was such a tremendous experience where I got to meet a number of talented and experienced professionals, professors and students. Speakers with brilliant knowledge and background presented to us, such as façade engineering specialists from WSP, indoor environmental quality experts from Sage Living Toronto, sustainable building design experts from Hammerschlag & Joffe Inc., active (mechanical) systems specialists from Nerva Energy, building enclosure experts from University of Toronto, energy and sustainability specialists from DIALOG, and accessibility specialists from Beautifully Inclusive, to mention but a few. I was not only astonished but greatly inspired by the content from these speakers. One of the many things that intrigued me was the Whole Life Carbon perspective. It is interesting to see that experts nowadays are not only focused on reducing operational carbon emissions but are also greatly considering reduction of embodied carbon emissions. Assessing the total carbon footprint of buildings over their entire lifecycle, from construction to demolition is very essential. As we strive to achieve carbon reduction goals in the world today, we should generally try to strike a balance between reducing both operational and embodied carbon in order to reduce the overall carbon footprint. I greatly thank Bettina Hoar and the entire Better Buildings Boot Camp 2024 team for such a well-organized week of learning and collaboration. I highly recommend this bootcamp, I am very certain that programs like these will change and make this world a very sustainable place! #carbonemissions#carbonreductions#carbonfootprint#netzero#carbonpositive#carbonzero#embodiedcarbon#operationalcarbon#sustainableliving#sustainabledevelopment

I am very happy to share this new report prepared in collaboration with few colleagues about the needs for knowledge, skills and competencies for the new occupational profile: the Circular Economy Transition Manager of the furniture sector. You can download it here https://lnkd.in/dnv4ZPEr. This is the first concrete results of the CirCLER project https://lnkd.in/da_Uzufv. It is the outcome of a process including a survey phase and a validation workshop that involved more than 160 experts from across the EU. The report clearly presents which are the key competencies areas that this new occupational profile will need to successfully guide the transition toward a more circular economy within furniture sector companies. Further interesting results from this project will follow during the next three years, as among other outputs and activties, we are going to develop new curricula and training resources for both VET and Higher Education provision. #ErasmusplusCirCLER AMBIT - Living Spaces Cluster
