The Global Corporate Purpose Continuum: The Case for Diversity The dichotomy between shareholderism and stakeholderism is a fallacy. Rather than a binary discussion, it is a complex continuum, perhaps even a multi-polar discussion, that requires nuanced understanding. Aurelio Gurrea-Martínez (Singapore Management University), Geneviève Helleringer (Faculty of Law, University of Oxford, ESSEC Business School), Dan W. Puchniak (Singapore Management University), and Wolf-Georg Ringe (University of Hamburg) brilliantly discuss – and leave us all, not only with better guidance to take up these challenges but also with the urgency of addressing such gaps in corporate governance literature. Their call to harmonize corporate governance with legal and social institutions, the underlying social structure, and other externalities—particularly in the Spanish-speaking Global South—is both timely and critical. Joon Hyug CHUNG was a discussant of their upcoming paper at the recent European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI)’s Global Corporate Governance Colloquium at Columbia Law School. #CorporateGovernance #Corporations #CorporateLaw #CorporatePurpose #GlobalSouth #LegalFrameworks The session is available at: https://lnkd.in/exMJ4gKi. Very much looking forward to their upcoming paper!
