The newly adopted Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) now includes mandatory bike parking in new and renovated buildings across Europe. This is a huge step towards creating more bike-friendly cities. 🚴♂️ Want to learn more about how this will change things? 🚘 A city-wide fleet of shared electric vehicles cuts emissions, air pollution, and reliance on private cars all in one go - but are locals electricity grids ready? ⚡️ Car sharing provider cambio CarSharing Deutschland and its local branch cambio StadtAuto Bremen CarSharing GmbH is working with the city of Bremen to find the answer through in COPPER. Working closely with local DSO Wesernetz, cambio and the Bremen will install and monitor charging infrastructure for a pilot fleet of 20 electric vehicles. The pilot will collect data on the local grid and mobility patterns, helping the city of Bremen create Europe’s first mobility-centred Local Energy Action Plan (LEAP). support them with decisionmaking for any future plans to take electric shared mobility city-wide. To properly honor the 2024 #MobilityWeek theme we want to highlight further the UPPER measures under the Redistribution of Urban Space topic. We thought it would be beneficial to show you again the presentation made by Agenzia Roma servizi per la Mobilita' Srl in the shared UPPER&SPINE workshop “Streets for Life” – lower speed limits and better public transport. Fabrizio Benvenuti detailedly explained measure 'ROM_08 Designing the urban space to promote active travel modes, PT and environmental 30 Km/h zones'. The measure aims to achieve several objectives, already included in the SUMP, concerning increased road safety and the accessibility and safety to PT stops. The Administration drew up a Zone 30 Plan, which was presented to municipal offices and the political and technical representatives of the districts. The Plan identifies the zones within which the district representatives indicate the roads for which the 30 km/h speed limit will be introduced. These will be the subject of interventions, including experimental ones, to limit speed and make crossings and intersections safe; within these areas, raised pedestrian crossings, raised intersections at pavement level, and chicanes will be created. Within the scope of the UPPER project, the focus will be on monitoring the set-up of some of these 30km/h zones, and the ex-post evaluation of these interventions. The actuation zones are located in: - North-east quadrant (Casal Monastero) - Southern city district (Fonte Meravigliosa “isola ambientale”) - City centre (6 isole ambientali) From minutes 05:22 https://lnkd.in/dAdJzFJE CIVITAS Initiative EUROPEAN MOBILITY WEEK CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency Eugenio Patanè Alessandro Fuschiotto luca avarello Fabio Nussio Chiara Di Majo Marco Surace

A Stirling idea? It is accepted that frequent public transport should extend from the Burleigh light rail station to the GC airport and beyond into Coolangatta/Tweed. If we utilised proven trackless trams instead of fixed light rail we'd save millions, reduce the time to construct and the disruptions and have the ability to extend the network west and to the hinterland areas where most of the Gold Coast community resides. A fast and efficient light rail to trackless tram interchange can occur at Burleigh if we make some minor modifications now to benefit us all for the years ahead but get far greater bang for our buck. Going the trackless tram route would also ensure the timely delivery of the upgraded system in plenty of time for the 2032 Olympics. Road widening will still likely be necessary to reduce traffic "friction" along the route but a trackless tram solution will eliminate the need to enter the central median for passengers and thus make access safer for all as well. Surely we at least should conduct a review of this option and weigh up the costs and benefits of the options available to us before we have finally committed to light rail only.

The Urban Road Safety Index by Cyclomedia is a great indicator for the perception of safety in 32 European cities. With cities shifting towards active mobility, improving – or at least maintaining – safety is a significant challenge for road authorities. A shift to active mobility requires a behavioral change which will only occur when people perceive those modes of transit safe to use! The safety of the road design can be improved through conflict analysis: determining accidents before they happen. As such, Roadscor complements current safety assessment methods by providing insights in all potential high risk traffic conflicts involving vulnerable road users in a well structured and reproducible way. If you want to learn more, please reach out or follow Roadscor: we expect to be able to announce results in the upcoming months. America's bad parking problem is one for the environment too. Why? Well, for starters, there's an average of 7 parking spots per American vehicle on the road. That's a lot considering parking lots aren't cheap to build or maintain and take up a lot of valuable land. Want to learn more?
