European Environmental Bureau’s Post

On International Wolf Day, let's take a moment to reflect on the vital role wolves play in our ecosystems and the urgent need to protect them. 🐺 Wolves are a keystone species, crucial to maintaining the health and balance of our natural environment. Yet they are threatened by hunting and habitat loss. 📝 Today we have a chance to make a difference. A petition is circulating to stop the hunting of wolves in the EU and ensure their protection. It is a call to action for all of us who believe in preserving biodiversity and promoting coexistence rather than conflict. ✍️ Your voice matters. By signing and sharing this petition, you can help push for stronger protection and advocate for policies that promote peaceful coexistence and conservation efforts. 🤝 Together, we can work towards a future where wolves and people thrive side by side. 👉 https://lnkd.in/eCiKyas4 #SavetheWolf

Focus is marine conservation but everything is connected. We cannot apply tunnel vision. Ask if externalities for solving Y create problems for X. Tries to apply humility and curiosity to solve 6th mass extinction

Signed/shared I see important parallels with shark protection: Both are portrayed by ignorance and media as villains: Ditto in the US Scientists are alarmed the science of wolf behaviour , a keystone species that helps control herbivores, maintain healthy populations plus autoregulating their own populations, is being COMPLETELY ignored! Wolf killing starts next month in the Swiss Grisons despite Switzerland's commitments to the Bern Convention (how ironic), Aarhus Convention (citizens must have clear and available documentation regarding public decisions in the field of environment). 4 years ago a Swiss referendum voted against diluting wolf hunting laws. A sneaky go around by copying Trump has taken federal authority down to Cantonal authority. Wolves, the "architects" of some of our terrestrial ecosystems... and the inhabitants of our dreams and stories since the time of our ancestors... we now have a moral obligation to protect them from ourselves...
