The fight against climate change requires collective action — from governments, institutions, businesses and individuals. A good understanding of the climate challenge is essential for people to make informed choices. The sixth edition of our climate survey focused on people’s knowledge of climate change in three key areas: definitions and causes, consequences, and solutions. Over 30 000 respondents across 35 countries answered 12 questions and were ranked on a scale of 0 to 10, with 10 indicating the highest level of knowledge. Fascinating #NatureClimateChange article. Actual v Perceived Support for Climate Action 69% of the world's population would contribute 1% of their monthly income to fight climate change. Yet, only 43% believe that others would contribute as well. It implies that individuals systematically underestimate willingness of their fellow citizens to act on climate change. This perception gap can lead to "lock-in" effects and pose challenges for future climate action. Reporting by Financial Times - https://lnkd.in/eyB9iX4X Full Study - https://lnkd.in/drTjDvp5

Power 'always' rests with the people. They just have to exercise their right, and in this survey #PeoplesClimateVote clearly highlights what they want. In a world where geopolitics are driving us apart, #climatechange is something than can, and in most cases does, transcend politics. There are no jobs on a dead planet and at that point, politics will be irrelevant! Climate not only provides an environmental and social challenge, it also provides and opportunity for investment - an investment into people and planet - a 'new' industrial revolution if you will - from renewable energy, to climate tech, to sustainable agriculture, to rewilding of land etc. Yet, alas, custodians of 'our' capital (your capital actually!) globally seem to spend more time at conferences talking about it, PR to promote it, than they do in actually investing in it. They need to out of the office, kick the tires of these amazing - and yes profitable - investible opportunities. You might be surprised how it generates hope in our youth for a future, and delivers uncorrelated returns for your portfolio. How else do you expect to hedge your future portfolios against climate change - a 0.1% hedge against a portfolio 99.9% exposed to climate change may provide you with comfort and solace in the fact that your peer group is doing the same - but your are NOT, and I repeat NOT, focused on delivering on your fiduciary duty to take into consideration 'the best financial interest of your members'. Something Jeremy Cooper clearly articulated at our recent Impact Investing Conference in Sydney & Melbourne. A quick way to make it easy for our super industry in Australia to increase the hedge by investing in positive climate change, if for our govt to mandate that 5% of super portfolios be invested in impact investments - that would release a potential $175 billion to be invested in addressing environmental and social challenges. The UN Peoples' Climate Vote 2024 report provides an extensive analysis of public opinion on climate change across various countries, including Greece and other Mediterranean nations. The findings reveal notable differences and similarities in climate awareness and support for climate policies among these countries. Comparatively, public support for climate action in Greece is on par with other Mediterranean countries like Italy and Spain. These nations also exhibit high levels of concern about climate change and a strong desire for comprehensive policy responses. The report highlights that in countries with significant urban populations, such as those in the Mediterranean, there is a particularly strong push for clean transportation solutions like electric cars and bicycles. Overall, Greece's public opinion on climate change is consistent with regional trends, demonstrating robust support for policies aimed at mitigating climate risks and adapting to their impacts. This indicates a widespread recognition of the climate emergency and a collective call for decisive action across the Mediterranean region.
