The erosion of human rights and growing migratory flows are likely to keep fueling authoritarianism in the region, while the new EU approach is likely to continue with new partners on the horizon. This November 20-21, 2024, the European Committee of the Regions held its 163 Plenary Session, with a discussion that featured contributions from Vasco Alves Cordeiro, President of the European Committee of the Regions, Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament, Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission and former presidents of the European Committee of the Regions.  🗣 Metsola mentioned the words of Mrs Maddelena Alberti, Executive Director Association for the Local Democracy Agency Zavidovici - laureate of the Mayor Paweł Adamowicz Award 2023:  “Local Democracy Agency Zavidovici’s change is the result of a constant long-term commitment. And in our 30 years of joint commitment – continues Metsola – we have seen so much change for the better. So I very much look forward to the next three decades of cooperation and success!” This recognition is a testament to the dedication and commitment of our members and partners, whose support drives our shared success. We take immense pride in standing and working alongside them to create positive change and foster a more sustainable, European future. 🤝 The European Committee of the Regions during the meeting released also a press statement marking 1,000 days since the invasion of Ukraine, highlighting the ongoing need for solidarity and action.
