European Union Youth Orchestra’s Post

The string quartet of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine performed in New York. On August 5, Oksana Butrynska, Anna Zygmont, Kateryna Telina, and Sofia Frantseva performed works by Antonin Dvorak (1841-1904), George Gershwin (1898-1937), and Vitaly Gubarenko (1934-2000) at The Kosciuszko Foundation The audience was delighted with the performance and noted the relevance of the work of Ukrainian composer Vitaly Hubarenko, which can become a hit at chamber music concerts. And the next day, August 6, Ukrainian musicians played on the Carnegie Hall stage together with European Union Youth Orchestra as special guests. In a joint performance, EUYO and YSOU, led by the legendary Hungarian conductor Ivan Fischer, performed Anna Klein's Masquerade, Donagna's Variations on a Nursery Rhyme with pianist Izata Canné-Mason as soloist, as well as Mahler's Symphony No. 1. The concert took place as part of the First World Orchestra Week at Carnegie Hall WOW! (August 1-7, 2024), in which teams from five continents took part.
