During our fieldwork, we found that misconceptions about vaccines still persist. Some women feared harm to their unborn children, while others trusted traditional remedies over modern medicine. Together, we can address fears and protect future generations. Read the final iteration of the personal account of our colleague Mandeep Kaur of the field work in Malawi. Since 1988, #polio cases have decreased by 99%. But misinformation threatens this success, especially in countries like #Pakistan. This is why in 2021 #UNICEF and The Public Good Projects launched a Digital Community Engagement (DCE) initiative to track and combat #vaccine misinformation reaching over 5 million pieces of content analyzed from 41 countries in 2022. DCE responds to crises, disseminating accurate information and partnering with local fact-checkers. Expanding into other health areas, DCE is now focused on strengthening local misinformation response teams while continuing to engage online communities through digital volunteers. https://lnkd.in/d8XiJMG9 #digitalhealth #healthforall #health4all

This is a powerful example of how CHWs are leveraging technology to improve child health outcomes. The ability of CHWs like Rodrick Katerega to use digital platforms like OpenSRP is indicative of how such tools can support these front liners in tracking immunizations and identifying zero-dose children, ultimately strengthening community health systems.NAMA WELLNESS COMMUNITY CENTRE (NAWEC), Pauline Picho Keronyai,Awumba Rogers Mulumba,Desire Namuswe.

"Now it’s time for the larger health ecosystem of government leaders, donors, and partners to act and ensure CHWs have what they need to deliver on vaccine promises. CHWs need to be recognised as professionals to expand their package of services. This isn’t rocket science—but in some ways it can be more difficult to deliver on health outcomes that depend on so many people making hard decisions. Our job together is to make these hard decisions easier, by providing the data, advocacy, and political will needed to do so." Nan Chen, Co-Executive Director, Africa Frontline First closing out our #WHA77 event on #proCHWs and immunization with a call to action for us all.
