The more I talk to expats, the more I realize how dangerous it is to use other expats as a source of credible information 😲 Don't get me wrong - if you're looking for a recommendation for a gym, or a good language course, there's nothing wrong with asking your fellow expats to help out. But when it comes to your immigration status, taxes, or contractual terms - I can't tell you how many people I've spoken to who have gone through a lot of stress because they got the wrong information from their peers. I don't think anyone will give you bad advice on purpose. It's just that everyone's situation is different, and the laws and regulations can be hard to interpret and understand the practical implications. 🔻 I had an expat who's been here for 6 years tell me last week they believe they can't get permanent residency in the Netherlands because they were without a job for 2 months (not true) 🔻 A person coming on a partner visa told me they aren't eligible for the 30% ruling because they're not coming on a Highly Skilled Migrant visa (also not true) 🔻An expat looking for work told me they don't think a specific type of visa exists because none of the HR departments of the companies they're interviewing with knows about it (very much not true 😩) It's hard untangling legal systems, even when they're in your native tongue. So please if you'll take official advice from someone - try to make sure it's an expert (wink wink, you can email me at any time!)

We believe this is not a good idea and here are our reasons: 👉 the visa process will require documents in German and company information related to the new hire. Therefore it is impossible not providing any support. 👉 the employer is responsible for properly employing third-country-nationals and mistakes can lead to high fines of up to 500.000 Euro. 👉 immigrating to Germany comes with a bunch of paperwork and regulations. If you do not support your new employee within the German bureaucracy jungle, chances are your new hire starts 6 months after the original starting date. 👉 immigrating to Germany from countries like Nigeria, Iran or Pakistan is very difficult unless you choose the accelerated procedure. However the accelerated procedure is done through the foreigners' hall in Germany that is German-speaking only. 👉 last but not least: what comes around goes around. On August 15, 2023, the educational requirement was removed for the Canadian work experience stream. The application is for Non-EU workers who have already worked abroad for Italian companies or companies participated by Italian firms, and who can now obtain a work permit not subject to immigration quotas (flow decree).
