I'm so excited to share that my very first article, "AI’s Empty Efficiency: Rapid Creation at the Expense of Meaning in Student Learning", collaborated with JING YANG and Minjin (MJ) Rheu, has been accepted to HICSS-58. 🥳 The paper investigates the impact of using GAI tools on students' work efficiency and the psychological effects, including their perceptions of the value and meaning of their work, the satisfaction they experience, and feelings of threat to the uniqueness of their contributions. The findings suggest that while GAI tools significantly reduce the time required to complete tasks, students' reliance on them may negatively impact their sense of autonomy and competence. I look forward to attending and sharing my insights with other scholars at the conference! 😊

Reimagining early education with a lens of democracy so critical thinking and fluidity have space, which reinforces the symbiotic relationship they have with each other. Prof. Moss made me think deeper of the negative impact, or the dark side of neoliberalism in education, because this forty year disruption in the natural order of things has compromised democratic thinking, the slippery nature of collaboration and the inherently chaotic process of learning. Listening to this type of thinking allows me to consider the impact and purpose of both power and control in teaching and learning and what my role can be.
